If you want to destroy your wallet you can do that. You can also destroy your wallet the same way by doing that next patch.
I never use barding because Resounding Protection exists on all my non-tank/non-warlock (Demon Skin) characters.
Well it is a good thing with your 30 alts you can make 60k gold during a gold emissary…
Assuming they are all 120. Mine are not, and I like them that way.

So I guess I’ll send alts 11k gold instead of 10k along with all the hexweave bags.
I honestly think it’s gonna be quite a bit more than 1k gold.
But you are getting it back for free, as well as the option to get it for even more mounts other than the bug. I don’t see the issue if you already have the strider.
You get it back “for free” on only one character. One. You need a piece of equipment for each character if you want them all to have water walking like they do now.

So, with our limited knowledge of what this mount equipment will amount to, know that it only is on one character’s mount? Is Blizzard going to somehow make mounts between characters different, when mounts before have been usable by all?
I have to reserve judgement until more details are known.
It’s already known. The equipment slot is per character, not per mount. It affects all mounts on that character. Each character can use a different piece of equipment, but it always affects all mounts on that character (except the sky golem and any other mounts Blizzard may decide to exempt). The equipment slot is like a gem slot, so the equipment is destroyed every time you change it out.

Considering the prices follower equipment was being sold for, these could well cost more than that for all we know at this point.

It will not affect those same mounts when used by any other character. Each alt will have its own equipment slot available to apply one of the 3 available equipments to all its mounts.
Changing the equipment will destroy the previously slotted equipment.
I dont play my alts till flying really. Made an exception for my zandalari because hes sexy.
I buy barding. Constantly. For 50g each. Coarse Leather Barding is daze protection. I don’t know what comparison you are trying to make to stirrups.

The current price on Area 52’s AH is 75.64 gold. No where near 1000.
Based on what information? Its 1k for the base price. If you have the rep for the strider, it will be substantially less.
I haven’t bought any mount stuff in awhile. The stirrups were about 1k I feel when I bought them back when I actually collected herbs (maybe 3 months ago). I assumed all 3 of the current “equipments” were roughly the same in price.
