1h weapon drops vs 2h weapon drops - Paired drops

I know not everyone was a fan of Legion, but I personally loved the fact that there was no need to rely on a miniscule drop chance to get a weapon upgrade (let’s pretend relics didn’t exist) AND for those that dual wield/caster offhands/shields there was no need for the extra RNG of getting them to drop too.

Now we’re back to the old system, would it have been so hard to just put 1h weapon combos into a paired drop? It’s something I’d personally like to see.

I think it’s unfair that half the classes need to try and get an extra piece of loot, that when they get a big weapon uprade, they’re only halfway there.

As a rogue who went through throne of thunder doing heroic lei shen progression. Having something better than 2 normal mode daggers for months and months until SoO came out would of been really useful…

It’s an interesting topic of contention. I guess in a way it’s a bit of a balance between diversity and efficiency.
With having them as separate items it’s opens a lot more room for player choice and diversity. Do I want one dagger and one sword, do I want two daggers, or do I want two swords? Do I want two items with haste and crit or would I prefer one with haste and crit and the other with haste and mastery? Plus of course transmog etc.

I imagine at the stage where they would do what you are asking they would instead just combine the items. You no longer need two different items, like the warrior/rogue artifacts would simply be one item slot which grants a dual wielded weapon.

As when you think about it, it carries over to the other parts. If you get a shield, you are now getting shield + weapon etc. So there is no need for you as a player to say “so I already have this weapon from x spec I just need a shield and then I can tank/heal”

So yes it would be effective, it would make it a lot easier and a lot more even when trying to get gear. But I just imagine something like the above would happen as a consequence.
