there isn’t really twinking anymore because of the low af population. I’m not subbed, most people on this forum aren’t. Retail isn’t WoW it’s Land of 8.2, there aren’t enough people left who like retail to make twinking a thing.
I have no idea how it is working right now as I haven’t played in a couple years and barely played whatever 7.0 was called. Last time I played seriously was the very beginning of 6.
I’m talking about when xp off was first split off from xp bgs. The wailing and gnashing of teeth was something to behold because not enough people were playing the xp off bgs and now twinks had to either wait forever for a queue or risk leveling out of their bracket.

These anti twink arguments are just as dumb today as they were back then. “oh i can’t afford the enchants”…so somehow magically you can at level 60? No 'twink" is a new char, they make a 60 first…buya clue. “waa I got rolled by a geared twink cuz i wanted to casually bg as i level”…again…who cares? I get rolled ALL the time at level 60 by raid geared people…do I get to complain and hve THEIR pvp style turned off cuz I don’t like that? AGain…twinks eventually got elminted because a bunch of emo teens complained like this. idiotic…if you dont like something dont participate in it. don’t try to tell the rest of us how WE should play the game or enjoy it.

The xp split came when the cata talents were introduced. In defense of 3.2 that patch was lit, didn’t have time to twink.
I think people are forgetting that pre-cata, Battleground didnt give exp. if you were pvping, it was for fun or for honor, and that was it. There were really no other incentives, other then an obscenely long grind for a mount, or certain gear (which was easier to either level out of or get in dungeons)
in other words, dont bother pvping unless youre doing it for fun. if you really really enjoy it, put in time to grind out the twink gear, or something close to it.

I use to play in the 19 bracket all the time that was my thing back in the days. Let me just leave this right here. More than half of the games were guild teams facing another guild. It got better once you were able to start facing guilds on other servers though.

I’ll be twinking 100%.
I have the most confirmed twinks on retail WOW servers, and I will have the most confirmed twinks on classic servers.
Already have a near 100% BIS phase-1, 19 druid (with arena grand master…almost have medicine pouch) on Pagle Horde named Fc.
The 29 rogue is about 90% BIS, will need the WSG PVP vendor in later phases to finish him up.
The 39 Shaman is about 60% BIS, and will be an absolute nightmare to get my POD & Unearthed bands of the monkey. Hope everyone enjoys their classic experience!

Didnt read the entire thread but XPOFF.com is a website devoted to WoW twinking, I would start reading there if I wanted to twink.
Ya but with twinking in Classic you can put lvl 60 enchants on lvl 19 gear twinking is Bis but there is noway you can do it without having a lvl 60 already or a guild that’s gonna help you. Some twink builds call for the OH sold by the timbermaw vendor that restores 1k life over 10 sec. how are you gonna get the rep with them without going to WS and no way your doing it without help. Making a Twink takes time and effort but the payout is so worth it.

The controversy over twinks was around in vanilla wow 15 years ago. It’s not a new thing that began years into the game or with classic. I don’t pvp much so I don’t care nor have I ever taken a side in the controversy. I’m just aware as a long time player that it existed right from the begining of wow.
Yes, but it is very different now. In vanilla, you could overpower the opposing faction with modest twinking. And non twinks could still queue and reasonably expect to win.
Now, if you’re not fully twinked and in a premade, enjoy getting rolled and possibly farmed until you /afk.
I’m still not taking a position on twinking. I’m just responding to the claim that the anti twink moment started with “retail cry babies.” The pro twink and the anti twink factions have been arguing for as long as wow has existed.

Oh, I’m not asking you to. And you’re absolutely correct. I was just pointing out the changes since then. Twinking is more mainstream now. I am working on a 19 of every class because it’s more reasonable with the time I have to play.
