19 Twinks!

I’m sure there will be some players who will frown upon the idea of twinks but I was wondering if there was a group of players already planning on making a 19 twinks guild somewhere ?

Those are players that don’t like World of Warcraft then. Twinking is one of the purest and best things you can do in WoW. The anti Twink movement happened from Retail cry babies that didn’t like to get gear and their Heirlooms weren’t good enough.

Any great game Twinking is alive and well. I am sure there will be Twink guilds at some point.

I don’t frown on twinking, I make a lot of money off them by selling them gear.

I am not personally interested in the 19 bracket because there not enough class abilities leading to 3 or 4 classes just dominating the bracket in a very dull way.

I hear that the 29’s are slightly better.

I have played the 39, 49, and 59 and enjoyed them because effectively you have complete functional class kit with a pace of PVP that’s slower than level 60, but at the same time more balanced because everyone has access to all the gear.

For me, this is very attractive because you can have MMORPG style PVP with a fair shot regarding gear balance.

19 and 29 are both hunter dominated.

39 is where it’s at.

I can see how that would work, Hunter pre 33 or so is way too strong VS other classes; they have nothing to fight back with.

I would even be willing to wager Rogues and priests are really strong in 19 / 29.

Druids are also likely OP in that bracket range because of their mobility and base kit.

Twinks? Nobody really does that do they?

I don’t think we can turn off experience can we?

39 is where i’m aiming to start, considering a 49 and potentially a 59 as well

I used to enjoy my 19 priest during TBC and wrath. I’d rather PVP at level cap now though. More depth and opportunity to outplay.

You don’t gain experience from pvp unless it’s a quest so it doesn’t matter.

Twinning is basically just BiS for the respective level.

That’s exactly what we’re working towards at endgame. I can’t see why anyone would have a problem with it at earlier levels.

I do like WoW, and I do frown upon the idea of twinks. First, it isn’t the gear. Getting the best gear possible would be one thing. It’s the enchants. Any player can run dungeons for gear, or craft the best gear. But not every player could afford the enchants.

It was the enchants that gave twinks their large health pools. It would take nearly the entire bg team to bring them down. But we wouldn’t be able to because of the other level-related issue: crit rating. At lower levels, a little agility goes a long way, much further than later in the game. So a lot of agility makes for almost constant crits. This means a twink can one-shot left and right.

Secondly, twinks always claimed that Blizzard was fine with twinking. The problem was, as you put it, with the “cry babies.” But, eventually, Blizzard added xp to battlegrounds. So twinks would out-level their bracket, unless they turned off xp. And if they did that, they’d be put into battlegrounds with ONLY other people who also turned off xp. Make of that decision what you will.

Finally, I NEVER saw a twink going after another twink. Though many of them claimed it was just about gathering the perfect gear, the reason for gathering the perfect gear was to one-shot other players, in a way that the poorer player could not equal, without having the money for enchants (and some of the gear that you just bought). Some twinks were honest about this, and I always respected them more.

Yes, after all this time, I apparently still have a sore reaction when I think of twinks. It was a cruel thing to do to players who couldn’t match your gold. But, this time, I just won’t bother with those low level battlegrounds. So knock yourselves out.

Have you ever played one? What you do with it is up to you, and I think the range of activity is no different than at cap. Just like at cap, some players primarily target those who are under their power level. Others don’t. There’s a great video of 29 twinks taking out a 60, and many in the 49 bracket that take great joy in killing 60s.

If you’ve never played one, try something out on retail while waiting for classic. Pick a 39 or 49 or so, and turn off XP, and then work on building out your BIS list. Its a lot of fun building twinks, setting your priorities and digging thru different builds and then chasing everything down. I’ve built out many that only got 1000 HKs or so, because for me the character build-out was as much fun as actually playing.

At cap, lets be honest—1% or less of players can build out a BIS list and actually achieve it—rather, we talk more about “BIS for the content I actually do.” (WF/TF issues aside nowadays).

With twinks, you can set a very specific goal, put in the hours, and make exactly what you set out to make. Its a rewarding feeling that is all but absent in the current max level content.

I appreciate that. And I apologize to people who approach it as you seem to, because I have no business judging you. But twinking isn’t my scene. I don’t have any heirlooms either.

I play, gather the best gear I can while questing, and have fun doing that. I wish you all the best.

The enchants are not that expensive. There are a lot of ways you can get the best enchants in game if you really want them; and it’s a heck of a lot more accessible than Naxxramas or the last half of AQ is for most players.

Because of this, it may take some longer than others to fully gear a low level character, but it’s still reasonable and possible for them to do so with only a modicum of effort.

Twinking isn’t hard, its tedious–its work. But just about anyone can do it. Its social in Vanilla, you need carries and friends to do it very well.

But I agree with you. I won’t be on a raid roster, I’ll sit on the bench and if I have time to fill a vacancy, I’ll play. But my 60 is going to be sitting in blues, and otherwise chasing rank 10 blues. That’s okay, its a healer and I’ll do group PVP content w/ my guild.

Otherwise, I can build out a 39 or 49 or two. I can put a lot of playtime into them without worrying about continually falling behind as phases are released. I have the time and energy and skill to build one out over time, to farm the gold where necessary.

I don’t have the time to raid. Considering my lack of experience with it, I don’t have the skill either. If I was 16 maybe I’d be all in, but like many I’m in my 30s with a career and family and while its possible to push raids on a limited schedule, its not a priority for me… so twinking gives a great character-building experience without forcing me to commit to someone else’s schedule

It’s no different than someone in T2 rolling your butt in a battleground. Both take a considerable amount of time to gear properly. And both will roll people that are not very geared for their level.

Back when they first allowed you to turn off experience, a friend and I ran 29s for months. We enjoyed the competitive nature of WSG against other twink teams. I know you run into jerks who just prefer stomping people in leveling whites and greens, but based on how much activity we had, as queues were never that long, there was a decent portion of the teink population that both loved the challenge of getting the gear set together AND loved the competition.

I much more preferred the 49s bracket, hell, I’m chomping at the bit to get my old paladin and rogue twinks rebuilt for a new round of lowbie slapfights. Looking forward to how this scene will develop again in Classic, I can see a lot more tweaking and min maxing happening once we hit phase 6 and Naxx gets cleared by more and more guilds, those Sapphiron shoulder enchants… tasty!
