16 Years old and No Tinker Class

Tinker would work 1 of 2 ways:

  1. Turret themed - basically demonology demons. Temporary pets aren’t new and overused.
  2. “mecha suit” aka making them tanks…problem is how would it even work thats not OP? It can’t work like island npcs, it’d be broken. It’d be druid bears reskinned otherwise to make it work.

Both would copy/steal resources of other classes and it’d fail.

I’m glad you asked this: Because I don’t even have to come up with an answer.
Blizzard has already done it for me.

You see Blizzard already designed the groundwork for the Tinker class.
The Island Expedition NPCs that we fight in BFA have a chance to be a Team of Tinkers.

These Tinkers are clearly divided into 3 specializations.
A Ranged DPS: Who fights with Turrets and Guns and Explosives
A Tank: Who fights in a Shredder
And a Healer: Who Heals with Guns, healing explosives, and Healbots.

Blizzard only does 1 or 2 major balances patches every expansion.
If you expect that to change for no reason, then you might fall under the description for insanity.

I’m glad there isn’t cause pet classes are overdone as of now.

A class that Uses guns from a distance, and focuses primarily on explosives wouldn’t steal from existing classes.
Especially if they were to use guns with the Intelligence stat on them. That way they wouldn’t even steal gear from Hunters.

I don’t see how this is broken at all.
The Mech suit is tanky. When it dies, You die. Just like any other tank.

If you really want to have the goofy ejector seat thing that the Island teams have, that’s funny and all. But you’d still be a squishy, intelligence using Mail-wearer. So outside of your mech you’d just die anyways.

So your only complaint is “It would be a Tank?”

Quite frankly this is the most lazy and dishonest excuse ever used for why any class shouldn’t be made… and quite frankly, JUST ABOUT EVERY CLASS EVER “STEALS RESOURCES/CLASS IDEAS FROM OTHER CLASSES”…

Warrior: I hit things with a sword and get angry.

Mage: I throw magic around.

Hunter: I shoot things and have a pet, and I am one with nature.

Priest: I heal people.

Rogue: I sneak and I stab people.

Paladin: I hit things with a sword and I heal people. (Warrior/Priest)

Shaman: I throw magic around and I heal people. Sometimes I hit things with a hammer. (Mage/Priest/Warrior)

Druid: I also throw magic around and heal people, with the power of nature… I also get angry and become a bear… and I sneak and stab people as a cat… (Warrior/Mage/Priest/Rogue/Hunter)

Death Knight: I hit things with a sword and I have a zombie as a pet… I also like to freeze things… (Warrior/Mage/Hunter)

Warlock: I use dark magic and treat demons as pets. (Mage/Hunter)

Demon Hunter: I cut things and unleash my rage through demonic magic. (Warrior/Warlock)

Monk: I stab people… with my fist… I also heal people… and get drunk… (Warrior/Rogue/Priest)

So…hunter with gun who throw grenades from surv spec?

Um like which classes? Hunter? Warrior? Please elaborate.

Hunters are based on the Orc Beastmaster from Warcraft 3.
That’s because they tame animals, use animal aspects.

Rachot has been helpful so far, she has the right idea

Hunters are their own thing.

A Tinker would Fight using Intelligence and Mechanical know How. Using guns from a distance and constructing turrets, bombs, missiles, you name it. and raining down destruction.
Of course, that’s just one spec. We’ve seen healers and Tanks too.

I forgot to mention that this really isn’t relevant anymore. x3 Demon Hunters took Metamorphosis from Warlocks, chi spheres & roll from monks, fury is literally a synonym for rage, and a few other things. There’s always overlap in class mechanics, despite DH very obviously taking a lot of cherry-picked mechanics from existing classes they still bring a ton of flavor and unique stuff to the table.

Whenever, if ever, we get a new class it will inevitably share similar mechanics to existing classes. Personally I’m fairly satisfied with what we got, but IF a new class was in the pipes I think it would be a ranged mail user.

I know. There should be a Machinist Class along with a Bard Class and Necro Class.

classic fantasy mmorpg classes.

We don’t need tinker.

I like the Enthusiasm. But I feel obligated to point out a pattern Blizzard established a long time ago.

Every class in this game isn’t based on Classic Fantasy.
Every class in this game DIRECTLY relates to a hero unit from Warcraft 3.

That’s why Tinkers are so high up. They were in Warcraft 3.
Bards… weren’t in Warcraft 3.
Necros technically were. But they weren’t a hero. Just a basic unit. That’s why we got death knights instead.

So I think Tinker is likely, given blizzard’s established pattern.

Oh but we do.

Countless examples of mechs tanking have been featured in WoW, making it a perfect spec for a Tinker.

In the Goblin starting zone, they literally revive your character with jumper cables, and they could very much do the same with Tinker class.

And damage is obvious… grenades, mechanical creations, electricity, you name it. There is so much potential in the Tinker class, they could easily fill out all roles. It’s not breaking any rules, and it would not be offsetting Blizzard’s past choices, in fact the opposite.

Disagree. Next.

The Island Expedition teams had healers that were pretty close to Ana from Overwatch, or the Crusaders Crossbow from TF2. Abilities that both heal and harm.
I think it’s a nice enough gimick to build a healer around.

Friend of mine came up with the idea to have their Auto Attacks be slow and powerful with a gun, and allow them to heal allies by auto attacking them.

Heheh. This is honestly the kind of stuff that keeps me making these threads.
Watching people like Holytatas that don’t know how to make an argument.
Thank you Heaton.

We’ve also seen boars in every expansion. Where is my boar class?

They obviously don’t know how to make a name either

It’s called hunter.

Give me a tinker class. Give it a melee dps spec, a ranged dps spec, and a tank spec using a “mech” that functioned similar to druids bear form. Make it a mail or leather class and give it decent mobility. This will be my main for the foreseeable future.

Hm. The Orc Beastmaster in Warcraft 3 had a boar too.
Oh! we have a classed based off of him Already. It’s Beastmaster hunter.

It seems every class in this game comes from WC3. Why not Tinker?

Couldn’t possibly agree more.
I expect it to use Intelligence Mail.
We need another Mail class.

Tinker as a class makes sense within WoW lore, especially given what we’ve seen since MoP. However, it probably won’t make sense to add it any time soon. New classes have always been strongly tied to the theme of an expansion.

For example, it could have made sense to add Demon Hunters in Burning Crusade, but they didn’t. The next expansion in which they fit was Legion, and that’s when we got them. Similarly, we got Death Knights in Wrath and Monks in MoP.

If they were going to add Tinkers as a class, it could have made sense in MoP. The Gnomes could have responded to the ramp up in Globlin tech within the Horde. It could have made sense in even in Legion with all the Lightforged tech being used by both factions. The prevalence of mech suits and the Mekkatorque revamp would have made Tinkers fit right in in BfA.

Now we’re off to Shadowlands and who knows where after that. Tinkers probably won’t make sense again for a while, if ever.
