I have been playing since WOTLK. Outside of current content, my personal goal has always been to collect mounts/pets/toys, but mostly mounts. I completed every dungeon I could, every raid I could, killed the rare that drops the mount till it dropped. I grinded reps and I even fished just to be on that mount that really told everyone how much I play this game. First time I saw somebody on the Fel Talon, I did not know it was the 400 mount achievement and I really wanted it.
I look at the otter and think… I wouldn’t grind out 500 mounts for that. I would not buy that off the store even if it was $10. Is it neat? sure… if it was a rep reward. 500 mounts is a tremendous amount of time and dedication and the best they can do is a reskin? My time and effort isnt even worth a mount with the quality and effort of a store mount? … It isnt even comparable to the current M+ mount. You saw that nobody liked the yeti reskin and you thought “Hey, if its a recolor of a new skin it’ll be okay”? My time and effort are no longer enough to have something cool in the game. I have to buy a store mount just to have something unique. I feel like I was just handed a company mug on my 15th anniversary with a company. I would have rather received nothing.
Edit: Have a problem present a solution.
Make this mount the 450 mount and really put in the time and show us you care on the 500 achievement mount.
Edit 2: They just turned the mount into a unique, awesome mount with perks. I am happy to say they saved this mount achievement for me

I agree, but it looks like they are finished with the matter. Thought they might actually put time into thinking about what they’d give us, as it is a pretty monumental feat.
At least it isn’t the stupid yeti… I guess.

I’ll be clear; I have no problem with recolors. They are all recolors. The problem is that this Otter looks virtually the same as all the others. Flametalon of Alysraszor and the Frenzied Feltalon are very different looking and easy to identify.
Give us something cool and flashy for 500 mounts even if it is a recolor. Please!

I have at least 3 yetis I can think of off the top of my head (draenor challenges/christmas event/island expedition). It wasn’t very exciting. Might be more, can’t remember.

I do think so, 4 or so total yetis compared to the 10 that otters have

I will take the Otter over the Yeti anyday.
I personally would prefer a duck, but eh.
At the end of the day it wont matter the Otter is just another number in the collection.

No, because one of those birds is purple, one is green, and one is orange/red
All those colors are very different from each other…
The last achievement was for 400…Devs are skipping 450 this time, even worse…maybe they’ll just add the yeti for 450 on another alpha build and launch the pre patch with 2 recolors that doesn’t have the impact compared to previous ones.

I agree. It should be a unique mount, only available to Mount Collectors. (Like the Keystone Deathwalkers.)
It’s another sign that there’s only one path of content deemed relevant and important to the WoW Devs.

Every now and then i get asked about it and when i twll them, they are shocked, shocked at such a rare mount,title,pet, whetever should be the response to such a rare achievement instead of “oh why are you not using this almost indistinguishable color instead of that.”

Every single mount achieve reward is a recolor. Some are recolors of mounts that have a bunch of recolors already. Like drakes and cloud serpents. I don’t know why people think it would be otherwise. These achievements aren’t that difficult to get. I get these things without even trying. We have no idea how many otters will actually make it into the game.
