They do have a healer… it’s the Prot paladin and probably the ret if the Prot can’t solo heal the party
Sure they lose a little dps but they can easily keep everybody alive with their word of glory it’s an insane heal
I get so frustrated as a healer getting sniped by the ret / Prot pally using word of glory before my heal goes off
Add in the fact that they have an aug adding tons of primary stat to 3 dps instead of 2, they have plenty of heals

All the time, I see word of glory healing party members for over 50% of their health bar in basically every key (since basically every key has a ret or Prot)
Broodtwister has a lot of AOE, but even on mythic there are periods where only the boss is up. And if the other tank has the boss, the prot paladin can invest all their HP into DPS (unless they need to help off heal). Again, my point isn’t that there aren’t AOE fights; it’s that there isn’t a single fight in raid where both tanks will be tanking 100% of the time. And the time when the tank can invest resources into offense that would otherwise go to defense, that will give them higher DPS numbers that they would not have the opportunity to get in M+ where they are tanking 100% of the time.
And also like I said, the conclusion you reached might still be correct. I was just trying to highlight the fact that the evidence you used was flawed. If your conclusion is correct, it’s a case of doing the wrong thing but still reaching the correct outcome.
I can only imagine the amount of practice this took. it’s really cool to see players find unique ways to play the game.
It also showcases the power of self sustain and off healing. Not that those are bad. Healing is hard to do, since the roll is very much about covering over mistakes and helping players stay alive (when not all classes can).
Notice the class choices? Not a coincidence. Very astute of the players to build on the strengths and weaknesses of those classes and specs.
Necrotic Wake is just a terribly designed instance and no amount of healing is going to make up for the Putricide encounter dragging on incessantly. Dropping heals might be the ONLY way to clear NW at this level.
sweet, ill start playing a healer now and just say to the group, i saw you dont need heals, im only here to collect the bonus and ill cast a few dps spells
At the time I write this, there are 267 Necrotic Wakes timed at a key level higher than +15. 100% of those keys used a healer.
I won’t argue on the quality of dungeon design as that’s purely subjective. But your assessment that dropping a healer is a requirement to complete the dungeon is verifiably incorrect.
Which is very similar to the damage profile of a key, AoE pulls and then boss fights.
This just isn’t how tanks work.
Most tanks, be it prot pally, blood DK, VDH, etc. thrive survivability wise when they are cranking DPS. They go hand in hand.
For example as a prot pally you want to be spamming as much holy power as possible to reset wings which also resets defensives and using WoG procs to reset sacred weapons. The more DPS you do the more tanky you become.
Same thing for Blood DK. The more you pump the more runic power you get the more death strikes more blood shields more vamp CDR etc.
Tanks don’t really play where you have to sacrifice offensive capabilities for sturdiness, aside from certain talent choices. More often than not your offensive output is increasing your sturdiness.
Kinda makes you wonder why they nerfed all tanks to not be able to self sustain and require healer interaction, only to buff 1 tank to be 95% of the top 2000 keys week after week and not need heals.
I think the point they’re trying to make is that actively tanking generates resources, like grand crusader procs for protadin. So not tanking and not getting those procs is going to lower damage output somewhat.
But again, it’s not the damage profile that I’m referring to here. It’s the fact that you can make different ability choices when you aren’t actively tanking than when you are. And you are always tanking in M+ compared with raid where there are times in which you aren’t.
You’re vastly oversimplifying this to the point where you’re missing the nuance I was talking about. When you’re actively tanking as a prot paladin, there are times when you will spend holy power on WoG; if you aren’t tanking and assuming the group doesn’t need offhealing, you would never hit anything but Shield of the Righteous to spend your holy power. The same thing goes for Blood DK that will use Death Coil instead of Death Strike when you aren’t taking damage, bear using Maul/Raze instead of Ironfur/Regen, etc.
I’m not referring to taking talents that are more offensive minded or defensive minded, but the abilities you choose to spend your resources on. Every tank has one or more resources that can go toward an offensive or defensive ability. And when you are not actively tanking, you would choose your offensive ability every time in such a circumstance (except for prot paladin using WoG on teammates when needed); when you are tanking, you’ll need the defensive option at least some of those times, which will eat into your DPS over the course of the entire fight.
Warriors could Spell Reflect the cast during Shadowlands, but the problem was that you automatically wiped because the add was still alive. I figured the same issue would persist now with Augs.
Blizzard didn’t like that comps could pull this off with no healers (due to secondary healing available with a Prot Pally and DPS classes like Enh Shaman), so they nerfed their ability to heal for long periods of time.
Then, Blizzard wanted to overhaul healing so that healing wouldn’t feel so spiky.
Sadly, that just made healing feel weak. Preventing damage and killing stuff fast is always kind of the meta at skill cap.
yeh that’s not random group, that’s zmok bro XD if you know his history, you know he’s the only guy pulling this stuff off, different level, also a bunch of hall of fame CE guys, don’t try this at home lol
