Joynal,
Over the years on the forums I have strongly agreed with most things you believe, but I think you’re taking too much of a principled stand on this one.
I know that you don’t want to be seen to be supporting the shambles that is the current game, but I think that in order for Classic to live, the current game also needs to survive – at least for a while.
As much as I hate what WoW has become, I’d prefer to keep the sort of people who were catered to at arm’s length on Retail, and WoW as a viable financial enterprise overall for Blizzard, moving forward.
If that means paying for $15 for both games instead of $15 for the one we want, then I reckon we should be grudgingly fine with that.
Now, if I feel like Classic is treated like the red-headed stepson to retail, I might begin to feel differently.

Yes, 15 dollars for a 14 year old game.
Classic WOW is much more of a complete game than retail. You play 15 dollars a month for a game that has been watered down then given a fresh coat of paint. The classic experience is more rewarding, the classic experience is more engaging. If anything they should charge 15 dollars for classic and give you retail for free.
There is a reason 2004-2009 were the greatest years for wow numbers wise. Because the classic experience vanilla-wolk is the greatest MMORPG experience ever (I say 2009, around 2010 if I recall was when the dungeon finder came out, and took a chainsaw to communities.)

OK so, I’m going to repeat this. That $15/month gets you two games. 1) Classic and 2) modern WoW, currently levels 1-110, but when BfA is finished and the new expansion is here, that $15 will give you BfA content and the 120 level cap. So you’re getting content generation for your $15/month. It may not be in the game you want, and/or it may not be current content generation unless the expansion is purchased. But the argument that there’s no extra content for the $15 is simply false.

Being forced to sub to a game i dont want to play is a deal breaker for me. I dont want to pay for retail development, maintenance and customer support i just wanna pay for costs related to classic if there isn’t a option available to do so i wont play… Also playing in 1.12 doesnt seem that attractive to me i would liked to play before treat generation became a joke

why not as long as us suckers will keep paying i say keep taking the money.
Its not as expensive as you make it out to be. We are talking about keeping the servers static. The only costs will be hardware/software maintenance, power consumption, rent on the building, initial hardware cost, skeleton staff, etc.
If it were so expensive, how do they keep OW online. I mean I know there are whales for games like OW and free server MMOs, but the overall average if you divide out the player base and whale expenditures would not equal $15 per person.
The real reason they are charging $15 is because they do not want to risk Vanilla outclassing current and they are well aware of the potential for that to happen.
This dev team is full on all about job protection and hiding their failures. Its behavior you would be able to see if you have ever worked in a union or government job setting.

Uh no. There will be no new content generated for the Vanilla player. Dont be daft.
The people who are coming for Vanilla arent coming to play that content.
You are in fact making the point that the reason they are doing it is to hide their incompetence. They are intentionally muddying up the revenue so it wont be so glaringly obvious that the current dev team is a real problem for the game.
People paying just for Vanilla would make it very obvious where the problem is currently.
There are a lot of people who have quit because of this dev team starting in WoD, and want nothing to do with what they produce because its pretty much garbage.

Thank goodness that you’re paying for a sub to World of Warcraft with modern & classic server options then, isn’t it?

One hour of labour for a monthly subscription? It’s cheaper than the majority of my alternative modes of entertainment.
A meal at a restaurant, within itself, is $15.00. I could simply prepare my meals at home while playing this game in order to conserve my wealth.

This is one of those topics that requires no debate, because its not going to change.

I have no doubt it wont change, and early on I predicted they would charge $15 a month because I know how they operate.
The current dev staff doesn’t want any chance for Vanilla to shine because it makes them look bad.
And to people making the argument that $15 isnt a lot of money (which it isnt) are fairly dumb. That’s not the argument.
What the dev team is doing is analogous to McDonalds charging $3.99 for a double cheese because they do not want to highlight how poorly their premium products are performing (and they are performing poorly).
But hey $3.99 isnt a lot of money so get unpoor and pay more for a product than a rational consumer decision would lead you to want to pay.
The dev team is being anti-economic in their behavior because they are a protectionist group who spend more energy on keeping their jobs than doing their jobs well.
Thats why the game has been in such sharp decline since WoD. Almost entirely due to terrible culture decline.

You could get a whole box of Hot Pockets and a 12 pack of Mt. Dew for around $15.
Imagine complaining because you have to pay 15$ a month to sub for a game that has always required 15$ a month to play it.

How much do you pay for Netflix? How much Netflix do you watch?
How much WoW do you play? Is it worth $15 a month?
I find that’s a useful benchmark. If I’m playing as much WoW as I’m watching Netflix, it’s a darn good deal.
You are reaching and it shows. The bulk of the people on these forums do not consider Classic to be a junk menu value item. We consider it to be a steak, a premium product. So we see 15 as a deal.
And probably diabetes and future heart failure.
