$15 a month for a 14 year old game?

11/05/2018 10:52 AMPosted by Elaice
I am assuming it's bundled with the live sub? I don't care, just pay for it and not log on BFA servers. I would be more upset if it were 15+15$

You don't even have to buy BfA, which I think some people don't get, just have an active sub.

It's really nice having a job that allows me to afford an extra $15 a month to play the greatest game of all time.

This thread is actually complaining about even paying $15 once lol

The 15$ a month is a filter. The greatest filter of all time. 90% of the people complaining are toxic as hell anyway. I played the private servers, I know.

The monthly fee is fine. Go back to piracy if you don't like it. I have zero sympathy, wow is a luxury item not some life requirement like food and water.

You call me a troll and you make up something I never said for the second time now? and please tell me how I am hypocritcal, my stance on most of this has never changed.

Not once did I say people said they would all pay 30, I said what I have heard for years from across all over was" We will pay anything" and here specifically plenty of people that you would consider #nochangers and/or pro classic have said they would be ok with a 15$ sub, no implying. If that doesn't apply to , well thats great, doesn't change that there is/was not a small number who did say that and/or agree with the sentiment.

I for one, would have paid a separate sub and I agree with you that it should be an option, but chances are that some kind of combined sub will still be used regardless.

If you go back through my post history, a long long time ago in a post far far away, I said I would pay 5-7.99 for classic servers. That's just one example. You like to omit all the people saying they would have paid different lesser tier subs for the sake of your argument (strawman).

It's easier for your arguments if you said "but they said they'd pay full sub fee reeeeeeeeee!" When naming only one example that doesn't encompass all wow vets who are inactive.

I never said that it applied to everyone, stop making stuuf up, i also acknowledged people who said they would pay less, so no omitting either, if my statement didnt apply to you or some else , great, never said it did. All i ever said is that is ws/is a common refrain i have seen repeated all over the place over the years.

Speaking of coincidences. The 6 month promo for the ship sub will end as classic releases. "Look at all them resubs."

ahh so you're the one who bought out all the tinfoil?

Juggs? So weird running into you here! Crazy thread am I right?
This thread is like a broken record repeating itself over and over. So many trolls in this. It is just running in circles due to these trolls. The Op made his point and it is no use to reply over and over to the same arguments most in here make. Blizzard already got the point and no reason anymore to keep feeding the trolls.
Yes please, as long as it's vanilla. I'm ready to play here and there.
Correct me if I am wrong here, but don't you have to have an active subscription to even use and post on these forums?

If that's the case, then this is a 22 page thread full of people saying they won't pay $15 a month sub when they're already paying $15 a month for the privilege of coming here to tell us they're not going to pay $15 a month.

So let me get this straight. You are 120 and can post here, so you have been playing current WoW anyway, but when WoW Classic comes out for $0 more than you are already paying, you won't play it?

You can post here without an active live sub. I've been unsubbed since July. Edit to clarify - You can post in certain sections of the forums. Here, PTR and I think customer support. Not most of the others though.

But that said, I agree with the OP. I don't want to play live, but I think $15 is too much for Classic. A lower option that only allows you to play on Classic server would be nice.

So you think people who enjoy retail should have to pay both to play both? get out of here with that

Why not? If I want to play classic I have to pay $15 why shouldn't you?

With a combined sub he is too, stop paying the sub , loses access.

Oh my. I read some more of this thread and now I see why Thermiss is so angry:

Some of us after over a decade of begging, are more than happy to join in and take a steaming crap on the company that betrayed us.

And by that they mean try to make Blizzard more money and stick it to retail players haha

LOL.
Yea. Nothing fanatical or delusional about it either. Just another day in Classic Discussion.

Nope. Trial account here. Haven't given Blizzard a penny for WoW since Cataclysm.

Fair enough. Good luck with your crusade.
Of course there's a sub for an mmo game. Why wouldn't there be?

I'm happy to support the game's support team, developers, and infrastructure costs.

$15/month is an absolute bargain for the hours of enjoyment I will get out of playing it.

Is this real?

I'm not paying $180 a year for ANY game, let alone a almost 15 year old game that doesn't get content updates.

To think that subscribers of vanilla are still struggling over the price. Most the
subscribers I know personally or in the game have had great gain over the past 14 years, even the last 10 years. This is a frivolous topic for the original subscribers of vanilla, I want to think anyways. I would kick myself in the a$$ if I was still struggling over the price. Back when my wife and I started playing, it was a real challenge financially, but today we are stable. With this personal detail, I certainly like to expect I am not the only one that has experienced this with age and wisdom.
Also, it would be hard for you to have an efficient view of the game as you may be attached to the quality of life stuff that has been literally handed out to, or poured over, the subscriber. Since you did not play vanilla WOW, Reading between the lines of what you posted, you very well may not enjoy WOW Classic.

This is a bad move by blizzard, and it will definitely effect the amount of people playing classic.

They should have cut the sub price in half at the least.

If I was planning on playing for 5 years, that is $900.

let that sink into your head for a second...$900 to play a 14+ year old game for 5 years.

You could buy 60 games at $15 each for that amount of money, there is no way classic is worth that much.

You have to be some kind of wow addict if you think this is a fair price.
Listen here, bucko. It is only "effect" when referring to the outcome after the context has passed. Since you are referring to lack of subscribers in the future it is "affect" - please apologize to us.
I haven't played in over 6 years now. Heard about Wow Classic and thought I would check into it. I quit b/c I got sick of paying $360 a year for my wife and I to farm whatever new faction or daily quest (of which the game had turned into) with what little time we had to play after the kids were born.

I was hoping this would be a game that followed Diablo 3's pricing model, or at least a notably reduced sub price, but ohh well. I hope they add a separate pricing model at some point, until then I'll keep to D3 and my freebie games, as much as my wife and I enjoyed playing the original WoW together back then.

And to the trolls, it has nothing to do with being able to afford it, I'm just not going to spend my money on something I'm not going to play more than a handful of hours a week - some of us have better things to do. I'm obviously not alone in that sentiment.

Crusade? Is that a reference to the expansion that added blood elves, or have you mistaken me for a paladin?

I'm happy to pay for Classic when it's released. I'd rather it wasn't bundled with retail just because retail is something I have no use for, and I'd prefer not to have an influx of trolls on Classic servers whenever retail hits a "content drought," a.k.a. "reminder that the design of retail is atrocious." But I honestly would have been a little surprised if I'd gotten the separate subscription I hoped for.

Guild wars 2 says hello.

Also again I ask, you're getting Classic for free.
Fah-reeeeeeee
I have to pay for it. Isn't only fair you pay for it as well?
Its not hard to make a menu people. 15.00 for retail. 15.00 for classic?
Or
A one time 15.00 for classic
Or
7.50 for classic
etc.
On and on. Paying for a game that I will not play is bull!@#$.
Period.
On the upside:

For those who wanted "no changes", the announced pricing system for WoW Classic is indeed no changes.

Back in vanilla we paid $15/month for WoW. And that same model holds for Classic.

Well done Blizzard!
