Before I open a ticket with Intel I want to see if anyone else is having similar issues. In Dornogal my CPU temps are hitting 70c for some reason. It’s random. I can be doing nothing, and I can hear the fan speed increasing. This is only happening in WoW.
Yes, I know about the previous issues with these chips. MOBO is fully updated, the problem started a month ago I want to say.
I’ve bought another AIO, same problem.
I know those temps are acceptable but it’s weird when my CPU sits at 35c for the most part and always has.
I’ve done all the technical stuff I can think of.
I’m trying to figure out if it’s a WoW issue or if I should just RMA this chip.
Ty.
**Just ported to Val. It’s happening there as well. Hit 75c. Pump is kept at 100%.
They still have issues which can not be fixed. The microcode just slows down the inevitable failure.

I did some reading and yea, it seems you’re right. It seems they have an advanced RMA option which is cool. I wonder if they will send me another 14900k and if the issue is fixed on the new chip.
Thanks for replying.
You’ll likely get the same CPU. Intel didn’t produce new ones without the issue, they moved on to the next chip. However, you might be able to stave off the degradation just a bit longer with the BIOS updates. It’s a good idea to swap it out if issues are already popping up.

They didn’t? That is…hmmm. I’m not sure what to say about that. I submitted a ticket. Thanks.
Unfortunately, they scrapped any plans to make any more of the 14th gen CPU’s. they skipped to the 18a process. Skipping the reboot for the next generation. which is the panther lake CPU;s

Setting up a Advanced RMA. $599 for the CPU and a $25 fee. So lame. I’ve never had to pay a fee for an advanced RMA before.
I’ve been waiting almost two months for NVIDIA to send me a 2nd replacement 4090. The first one they sent was physically broken. It was packed in a box with two pieces of foam and was rattling around in the box.
I had to buy a 5080 reference from Bestbuy (shocked that I was able to) so I could still game.
Sigh….
If you’ve recently updated your BIOS, it likely reset everything to Intel factory defaults or some terrible motherboard brand performance preset and the microcode now locks away a lot of the things people used for undervolting, which can drastically lower temps. So it means the CPU is just going to run a lot hotter than usual.
Keep in mind that current hub cities are always a CPU bottleneck hotbed, so it will always be a bit warmer than normal in those kinds of areas, since the GPU can end up twiddling it’s thumbs waiting on the poor CPU on its hamster wheel that never gets a break(if you have a mid or higher end GPU).
