Hello debating picking up a new mobo and cpu here. I have everything else. I dont use the PC for anything else very intensive. What’s the word on these two CPU for WOW. I would use DDR5 at 5600 for the intel chip and may overclock it a tad. Thanks in advance.
There’s not a bad choice in there. I believe when that Hardware Numb3rs guy on youtube compared the 5800X3D vs the intel 12600k he actually went with the 12600k because it supported DDR5 RAM even though the 5800X3D showed a bit more performance in WoW. The 13600k would further cement that decision for me if I was choosing between the two since you would have DDR5 to move to a new platform once you decide to move on from the 13600k.

AMD AM4 motherboard went thru 4 generation of CPU. So it could be the same for AM5. More expensive in the beginning but you can use for longer. I think Intel makes new version every year so if you wanted to upgrade to the latest CPU, you might need to upgrade the motherboard.
Both CPU is good. Since you mentioned 5800x3d, you will need a new motherboard if you want to upgrade from that. It still will last you a while though
