12.1 Warlock changes

4-Set Bonus: Each active Unstable Affliction increases your damage dealt by your spells and abilities by 2%, up to 6%.

So If I manage to get 3 casts off on one target, they take 6% increased damage. lol

Curse of Exhaustion movement slow reduced to 30% (was 50%) in PvP combat.
Whiplash movement slow reduced to 30% (was 50%) in PvP combat.

Because melee can’t stick to warlocks. Amirite?

My favorite part is the nerf to dark pact in PvP

Now it’s affected by dampening (it wasn’t before)

And lack of destro/demo changes

Also the 4set for destro and demo is insanely bad

Hopefully it’s still early enough that we get something more substantial

The same with Crippling Poison with rogues too. Also to 30%. Slows simply need to stay at 50% or they are going to have to relearn the lesson from Legion.

That is not how it reads to me. The target does not take X% more, you deal X% more.
You also cut out the big part:
Seed of Corruption applies Unstable Affliction at 50% effectiveness to your target.

Basically, the 4 Set is a 6% flat buff in 3+ targets. And is a varied 0-6% buff in ST.
That might not sound strong, but it is. Well, for AOE.

If you’re wanting it for PVP, it’ll be nerfed in half, so it’ll be a 1-3% buff. It probably wont be worth taking outside of BG Blitz team-fighting.

The nerf to CoE is concerning to me though.

It’s been affected by dampening. It’s actually getting a buff with the 25% hp increase

i’d want to know the reasoning for hellcaller changes as they flatout kill the hero spec lol

what’s the purpose of playing a weaker ST dot which doesnt even cleave good with blackened soul anymore lmao

My question is whether Sow the Seeds will put that 50% UA on all three targets, amazing for group fights in PvP if so!

Since a PvE ability instead of a PvP one like Jinx I’m assuming yes it will, but since it’s a tier set bonus it will only be 25% dmg in pvp.

The dispel protection would be the more beneficial part of it.

At the moment it doesn’t.

There are a few bugs with the tier set for affliction:

  1. UA stacks don’t count as unique UA applications, so you need 3 targets to get the 6% damage bonus (2% per target, instead of 2% per stack on 1 target)
  2. Only the target of the seed gets the UA, so you need to tab target in aoe to spread UA’s through seed (really annoying gameplay). So sow the seeds does not work with the tier set.
  3. With Nocturnal yield + Patient Zero, you now no longer press UA in any scenario, and just hit seed in all situations as your spender

Regarding point 3, against a single target even in a seed spam build, UA does about 3x the damage of seed currently.

With a bonus 25% UA (half of 50% in PvP) applied to the main target, that bridges the gap to where it’s pretty close when there’s two targets to hit with seed.

Against a single target, even in seed build, I think UA is still better.

You sure about that? Skillcapped did a video a couple of weeks ago saying darkpact was not affected by dampening at all they could be wrong but I’d think they’d know

Jeeze, survivability already sucked for Warlocks — This doesn’t really help :joy: lol

My guess is Blizzard’s baby exalted paladins didn’t like being slowed to the extent they’d have to dare use their hand-of-freedom, so nerfed other classes slows — Thus they can hammer-time on them easier :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: lol

Is this for pvp?

That math being 3x doesn’t seem to add up in pve, but I’m almost certain atm you will spam seed in pve in single target considering the seed only needs to cover 50% of the damage a single UA will do for the global.

Yes for PvP, however now that I test it on my second Warlock, it seems gear dependent.

On my full Mastery/Haste Warlock, it’s closer to 3x, just below that original figure.

However, on my Versatility/Haste Warlock, the gap is smaller, it’s closer to 2x.

Using my Vers/Haste Warlock as the example as that’s the standard stat priority, a single seed on a PvP enemy currently does 40k damage. The new one will do a bonus 25k damage with that 25% UA. (Total 65k) UA currently does 100k so still better against a single target and both spells have the same cast time of 1.3sec in the seed build.

Against two targets, it gets more complicated.

Main target seed: 40k

Second target seed 50% weaker: 20k

Since it only applies UA to the main target, that’s a bonus 25k.

Brings us to 85k, however, seed also does AOE damage but not at the same damage as it does to the host which gets a 50% boost through talent Patient Zero.

So if both targets are within 15 yards, add another 26k to each, bringing the total to 137k.

Conclusion, single target in seed build it’s still better to use UA, however, as soon as there’s a second target, seed far and away takes priority.

  • Dampening now causes Dark Pact to decrease the amount of health it sacrifices.
This wording implies that currently dark pact sacrifices the same amount of hp regardless of the amount of shield received, which would also imply dampening does effect dark pact. So this would be a buff / more akin to a bug fix tbh.

So more nerfs because warlocks don’t have it hard enough right now in PVP.

We are only the first blood kill 60-68.75% of the time in PvP, so we need it closer to 100% apparently.

Yeah we gotta bump those numbers up. We should have our cast times increased, port time increased, oh and let’s nerf dark pact effectiveness by 50% in pvp. Gotta bump those numbers up!! 1st place destro at 68.5% first blood isn’t high enough, hopefully with those changes they can bump it up to 80%+
