12 years ago today, the best expansion released

Cataclysm is 12 years old today.

It was the best expansion, with the only blemish being Dragon Soul.

Everything else about it was chef’s kiss

I still play cataclysm to this day. Not going to say how here. I can’t wait for cata classic.

No no no it goes as follows:
Wrath>Legion>SL>everything else cause compared to retail they are garbage.

I actually enjoyed DS. Its major blemish, to me, was the first “major” content patch was just the Troll raids from Vanilla and BC turned into heroics. That was the lowest point of the expansion, but they followed that with MF and Firelands and made up for it.

My top 3 expansions are MoP, Wotlk, then Cata. It still ranks up there though. Especially loved getting Goblins and Worgen.

tyvm pretty panda!

I like the cohesiveness of your mog - and very festive too, btw.

Is the internet really just a game of saying the most contrarian thing to get people riled up?

Cataclysm was an alright expac, but definitely not the best. I do enjoy going back to DS and FL though.

i remember the day cataclysm launched. My in game latency went from 200, to 10000 and it never came good untill almost a year later. So my memories of that expansion are actually really limited

The rare pov, but I agree completely! We still had talent Trees, they were changed, but we had them. The combat was imo the best in the game. DKs and Paladins felt amazing to play for me. PvP was top notch and I generally hated PvP. Being a casual who can play games well I loved the Dungeons. I absolutely love going through a dungeon, figuring it out, talking with my team, and us rejoycing and this is a…a dungeon! They actually made dungeons feel like a source of baseline progression that NEEDED gear. So the things outside of the game, the casual things, became even more relevant. Professions mattered even more, Rep mattered even more, finishing every zone to get those few pieces mattered even more and normal dungeons mattered even more because Heroics would slap you silly.

Thats not even getting into the Raids, which felt absolutely amazing the moment you stepped in them. Dragon Soul/LFR is the blemish that killed our guild, but until that point it was by far one of my favorite experiences. TBC and Wrath are also up there in there. I feel like im enjoying Wrath even more today than when it launched.

TBC was January 2007, and now I feel old!

I have to correct a part of that, my friend:
“cata > everything else > SL” ==> Cata > everything else > HELL! > SADolands"

I love that, i’m stealing it lol

I don’t know if I would call it chef’s kiss, but there is a soft spot for Cata in my heart because that’s when I started. However, MoP is my favorite expansion.

Shh! I stole it too.
Credit goes to someone on this forum or on A52(server).
Not sure where I saw it first

I really enjoyed Cata.

And I’ve been saying that for 12 years today!
