11.2 PTR Memory Error

Trying to log on to the 11.2 PTR and getting the error message that there is not enough available memory.

“Not enough memory. Please refer to https://battle.net/support/article/6926 to find out how to reduce your memory usage”

14/62GB RAM is being used, watched task manager to see if there was maybe a spike at startup but no spike at startup. retail runs fine, no issues.

repaired client, also did an uninstall and reinstall of PTR and same issue.

gives a report ID of ABD2FDD3-0DED-447F-A79A-38B653669FDF (I doubt that helps unless being in a ticket with Blizz)

anyone else have this issue and figure out what it was/how to resolve?

to add some info, for some reason “new users” (been playing for 20+ years) can only put 2 links in the chat and even though theres no links in here it wont let me update… anyways I digress:

Error: ERROR #8 (0x8)

BLZ_ALLOC: struct CommentatorPlayerInfo

Just had the same issue. No resolution yet. The crash occurred during a BLZ_ALLOC attempt for a CommentatorPlayerInfo struct which, according to the WoWT.exe crash message dialog, requested 306,016,420,000 bytes of memory (or 285GiB of RAM).

Nice dev testing guys.

Looks to be a error on the PTR branch, I do see others posting this on the PTR forum. I would report it on the PTR forums though, you can hopefully still edit the post over there so the dev team can review the crash log.

Unfortunately no one here, as player to player discussion (myself as always just a player) can decipher the crash code, it is for developers only now I believe.

It’s trying to allocate 284.5 GB of memory.

There’s your problem.

I doubt you have this much.

11.2 is clearly meant to be run on machines better than the potatoes we all have with a max of 128 or 192 Gb of RAM.
