Rolling out Molten Core as the only raid content with his patch has proven to be a complete mistake. People were pugging MC/BWL in 2006 and they’re going to do it now. Using this patch without the relevant content (Naxxramas) is a total misfire. The mechanics needed to be rolled back or the final raid should have been made available otherwise.
All of this content was a gear check when it was new. With this patch, compared to early 2005, mana regeneration is significantly faster, threat generation is significantly faster, most abilities are stronger, most gear is stronger, even most talents are stronger - and to top it off, the bosses are weaker.
The result of this is that farming dungeons is vapid and using consumables in raids is pointless, which means there will be an excessive flood of them in PvP among other numerous economy side effects.
takes a deep breath to shout into the ignorant void that is the forums
Classic is never going to be the hard game you want it to be because it’s a 15 year old game and we have better knowledge of the game than we did. You can demand Blizzard to implement rollbacks or patch in new fixes but nothing is going to change the fact that you’re playing a 2004 video game with the accessibility of 2019.
It was just tedious and obtuse, both of which are remedied irrelevant when you discover how to counter everything the game throws at you. If you want difficulty, mythic raids in BfA exist for you. Classic is not for hardcore raid progression.
I don’t remember it being a hard game - I remember it being a grind. I want the gear checks to work because I want grinding to be relevant. If you can clear content naked then what are you even getting gear for
Yes, you needed to grind because at any given time you were probably carrying 15+ literally keyboard-turners and action bar clickers (like I was back when I first started raiding in MC). And even then, you only had to worry about one or two mechanics per boss.
You’re looking for something that simply wasn’t there, and all the posts like this are just trying to rationalize the belief that the game was something that it wasn’t in the face of blatant evidence to the contrary.
…that’s exactly the point. There was nothing hard or complex about Vanilla. Other than getting people who had never played an MMO before to sit still for 2-3 hours on a raid night.
That’s my point as well. These were gear checks. You needed gear to do that much DPS - however, with patch 1.12, you can do more dps with no gear on at all. It’s a rather simple concept.
the truth is, many of you will never be content with the speed of which these raids are cleared. be it the first week, or the 4th week, there would still be outcry if it doesn’t take months to finish. that’s just an unreasonable hope for a game this old.
it will likely happen to bwl, aq40 and maybe naxx, so just accept that old game is old and that people will clear it a lot faster than they did back in 05/06.
What is so hard about this? In this patch you do more damage, more healing, more threat, have 30% faster mana regeneration and the “final” boss has half the health he originally did - but you simultaneously believe none of that makes a difference
Are you unfamiliar with the concept of a gear check?
You’re insinuating your average player in Classic is going to be able to do this.
You’re comparing them to people who have practiced these raids without end in private servers, optimizing and scrutinizing over the smallest details in their builds.
Not everyone playing the game right now is going to be the 1% of people that can pull this kind of thing off. You’re comparing apples to oranges.
You wanted no changes. You got no changes. So either accept it, or go back to retail where this isn’t an issue. Vanilla is not a perfect game and it never was.
