I just don’t understand how modifications to specs are done on the inside.
So, 6 months of time allowed for 7 abilities to get number tuned and 1 talent, Maelstrom Supremacy. btw, Maelstrom Supremacy doesn’t show its location in wowhead nor in the game. Type it in and you get chain heal, stormbringer, earthquake, and earth shock/elemental blast to highlight. How, I don’t know.
THERE ARE 12 DEAD TALENT NODES IN THE ELEMENTAL SHAMAN TREE!!!
Theres only 43 nodes… That’s 28% of our spec tree is dead!!! wtf.
(and a few that are taken to get down the tree/no better option to take)
-Icefury, Fusion of Elements and Flux melting: They are not used because Icefury doesn’t tie into the spec at all. There is zero interaction within the spec’s other talent nodes that goes along with Icefury. It doesn’t even get used by our mastery anymore so it cannot overload. it’s just glued to the literal side of the spec as a scab half peeled off.
-Improved Flametongue Weapon: increases fire damage by 6.5%. It doesn’t work with Farseer ancestors because that magic school is physical. So somewhere between 30-40% of our single target damage is actually fire (LB, ele blast, primordial wave, flame shock). Thus getting realistically maybe a 2.5% damage increase. And that’s if we prioritize fire.
-Thundersrike Ward: Damage, proc rate, affect. It’s all simply pitiful to the point no one takes it even though this is the first time you’ve done ANYTHING with our shields.
-Searing Flames: This used to be a good talent but you made it a ‘chance’ to generate 2 maelstrom. Flameshock is a pain and a damage loss in basically every scenario, outisde of Farseer single target, to maintain so this is a dead talent even with every other Flameshock node taken.
-Earthen Rage: What a horrible node. It is set it and forget it to it’s max right here. You can barely see it. Even after you just buffing it 35% it still maybe will do 2.5% of our damage single target and basically nothing for aoe. It doesn’t tie in to anything else in the spec tree or spec itself just like many other talents.
-Flames of the Cauldron: Flameshock is basically not used and is really only applied to ascending for aoe becuase Liquid Magma Totem sucks. The only time you use Flameshock is single target or as a filler when moving. So making it from a 6 second cooldown to a 4.5 second cooldown does basically nothing. The 15% increase in tick speed would be nice if Flameshock was worth a damn.
-Elemental Equilibrium: This is a good talent for openers and that’s it. lasts 10 seconds with a 30 second cd. That’s 33.3% uptime. It gives 10% damage. 33.3% of 10% damage is 3.3% damage increase IF USED PERFECTLY. which it’s not. This is a ‘highest tier’ talent node and it is entirely passive and gives roughly a 2.5% damage increase. That’s awful and awfully boring. It’s also generally taken because the Eye of the Storm talent node is a waste. there are no better options because half of the ‘highest tier’ of nodes are junk.
-Eye of the Storm: You reduce the maelstrom a little which impacts us so little we cannot see it. Aftershock is on the 3rd row of the talent tree and it is by an order of magnitude better than this talent. ADD TO THIS TALENT. Give it a 5% increase crit chance and a .5 second cast time reductions. etc.
-Primordial Wave, Splintered Elements and Liquid Magma Totem: As a whole this is extremely lackluster, underwhelming and underperforming. Primordial wave is required by Farseer but it’s a pain in the butt and a damage loss as a whole to manually place flameshocks to make primordial wave work. Thus, Liquid magma totem was introduced YET NOW IT ONLY ADDS 3 FLAMESHOCKS and itself is a horribly weak ability. So, we need to manually cast flameshock 3 times (or 2 times for an even further damage loss with Surge of power talent node) for an incredible damage loss, spend 3 globals to use the 3 minute cooldown Totemic Recall to place to liquid magma totems down which is a damage loss and a one of the longest cooldowns in the game for some unknown reason. OR just wait for ascendancy to be used or proc.
-Erupting Lava: the top half of the text is great, +6 sec and +50% damage. The bottom half of the text is garbage. WE DO NOT WANT TO TAKE FLAMESHOCK DOWN. Pressing flameshock is a massive damage loss. The bottom half of the text does not outweigh us having to press flameshock again and again and again (and no, the fire elemental will not be used because storm elemental is many times better) is a massive damage loss. so why would we EVER lower its uptime?
-Magma Chamber: another completely passive node (kind of a running joke at this point). Yet again, tied to flameshock and thus is crappier the lower the amount of things you have to hit. Single target you get to about 5 or 6 stacks before it’s used. So, we get an 8% damage increase on 20% of our overall damage when aoe and single target is combined. Not exactly high quality numbers there.
Where is the creativity??? Where’s the effort??? You gutted fire and haven’t even realized it. Fire has no aoe. You removed it! you took away the crit bonus on lava burst. The lava chain lightning from ascendance was removed. The only way you can hit multiple targets with lava burst is with ascendancy procs, primordial wave and ancestors which aren’t that reliable. The fire side of the tree has been destroyed with no compensation.
1 person could come up with the fixes in a day and another few days for implementation. It’s not that hard. Why is there so much neglect towards the classes and specs of this game??? it is the 1 thing we interact with 100% of the time. Classes and specs should always be a high priority. it’s just sad. I don’t know how you all deal with being the laughing stock of the industry.
