11.1 Hunter is a joke

In today’s PTR patch, Blizzard fixed the previous issue where Mutagenic Toxin’s attacks did not reduce Coordinated Assault’s cooldown.

At the same time, they nerfed the 2-piece set bonus by changing the 200% efficiency Barbed Shot cooldown reduction from “-24s and 2 stacks of Barbed Shot” to “-12s cooldown and 1 stack of Barbed Shot.” Additionally, pet summons no longer benefit from the set bonus.

This is a massive nerf for Hunters, especially considering that the previous patch already reduced the set bonus’s damage by 70%.
This is a classic Blizzard-style nerf—first, they gut the damage numbers, and then they “fix” so-called bugs afterward.

Why is Blizzard doing this? This nerf makes absolutely no sense. Marksmanship is still garbage after the rework, and Survival is just as bad.
Blizzard knows what all three Hunter specs need in Mythic+ but just keeps nerfing them instead.

It’s really disappointing. If Blizzard doesn’t know how to design the Hunter class, they should just delete it instead of making it suffer like this. Hunter will never be T0 in Myth+

Honestly, I want set bonuses that are just barely strong enough to be desired but not really all THAT strong. I’d rather see them nerfed when they are too strong.

I want to be balanced to be somewhat viable without the borrowed power of set bonuses.

So are you complaining about SV tier getting stronger ?

And from all the PTR we’re doing much better than we did at the start of S1, so i don’t think we’re really suffering.

And the tier set is still like 20% for st and almost 30% for aoe… its still insanely powerful…

Bite your tongue.

And your point?

beastmaster has it too good anyway, in my humble opinion to be quite honest i think sv/mm should far outclass bm due to its ease of use and lack of downtime unless mechanics call for it

Complexity shouldn’t mean a spec should be stronger.

Now I’m not saying bm should be stronger, because it’s whole playstyle is degenerate, but it should be competitive between the 3.

Why do you think this? BM just should never be this easy and do that much dps, they should make it harder if they want to make it do crazy damage.

Reminds me of 11.07 paladin… in the end, a lot of number geeks complaining and people got bored of it and no one talks about it anymore

No spec in this game is that hard to play. None of them are difficult. There is no justification for any difficulty based performance disparity. That’s just your attempt to validate a bias. Every spec should be viable in performing its primary function.

If it’s so easy why are most people still awful at it?

You’re like my twin! :astonished:

BM is still strong, come on now. The old bonus applying to animal companion was insanely busted.

“omg my blisteringly op spec was brought to something more reasonable le fun detected”

MM is easier than BM honestly, Ive played all 3 specs in mythic this tier. MM has all the time in the world to make rotationally decisions

Yet both fury and ret are easier to play and do more damage…

I hate that argument, you should not be punished for playing what you want to play because someone who doesnt play it claims its easy.

So, I was on the PTR on one of my non hunters, wondering why my damage was so low on a big trash pull. I double check Details and see I’m doing over 6 mil dps. Why did this look low? Because the hunter (BM of course) was doing 15 mil on the same pack.

Pack Leader BM absolutely needs an adjustment, but only a slight one, not a sledgehammer.

Have not seen MM or Surv on the PTR since the first week, or maybe first day? Not a single one.

Some players are ride-or-die hunters, several are ride-or-die specific specs of hunter, but many other players only switch to hunter when it’s fun to play.

When a class can only dps, it needs to do that one role exceptionally well. And it should be able to do that in whichever flavor a player enjoys the most.

Well would ya look at that?.? lol

Just because something is more complex doesn’t mean it’s inherently healthier for it to be the absolute best option by a mile.

BM should be allowed to be competitive with harder to pilot specs like survival (or something comparable as destro to demo, fire to arcane, etc.) even if it’s simpler.

BM is also not good in PVE right now, but broken in PVP. And survival is the inverse. They should be competitive with each other and fill differently niches/roles in both environments without one being able to dominately be above the other.

There’s also a factor to consider that a complex spec, where you have to manage more procs, reactions, range manipulations, etc… won’t be picked up by casual players that aren’t interested in the spec even if it’s super broken, purely because they may not want to put the effort required to learn it, where BM or something easier doesn’t require a mastery behind it.

They don’t have to make it harder, they need to make it manageable. There’s a difference here. BM is disgusting in PVP, but you know what instantly fixes it while retaining this current iteration? LOS affects pet damage. This requires Blizzard to balance it.

I’ve gone on a few times just to test things though it’s been a minute at this point. It seems like so many classes/specs are performing better then live. For my toons - DH, Mage, and War are really moving into a better place.

For me, Dark Ranger Marksman however is just aweful. It is just the worst. Black Arrow feels like a wet noodle. The loss of my big Trueshot burst is especially painful. I miss Wailing Arrow. On the plus side, in a way, Sentinel Marks is performing decently for me.

I still don’t like windup mechanics either. I didn’t like it with Trickshot, and I don’t like it with Streamline.

For the people that were making an argument against BM:

Your prayers were answered. Just got slapped with a flat 8% Nerf across the board.
