11.0: pls blizz shrink the vrykul and make it a playable race

I feel that you can only say this because they made Kul Tirans nine feet tall for some Light-forsaken reason. Playable Vrykul would still be Tauren height, would still be based on the orc models.

So… humans with fancier beards.

based off of wow lore actually

The humans are descendants of the vrykul, a seed race who worshiped their creators, the Titans, as gods. Around 15,000 years ago, the vrykul of the Dragonflayer clan believed that their gods had “abandoned” them, and a certain time after that, some of their children were born "weak and ugly.
King Ymiron ordered all such children to be killed: the punishment for not doing so was that the child’s parents would be executed alongside them. Skadi the Ruthless, in a true act of depravity, earned his title by relentlessly hunting down such families. Despite the risks however, not all parents obeyed this order and instead hid their children to grow up far away from Northrend. Legends say it was Tyr, one of the Keepers, who brought the humans to their new home, though the vrykul actually sent their offspring there because it was the location of Tyr’s tomb. Regardless, his legend and symbol would haunt and inspire the humans forever after.

15,000 years ago, the clan found themselves afflicted by the curse of flesh and their king, Ymiron, blamed the absent Keepers for it. He ordered the weak and ugly children born to Dragonflayer women be killed, but some vrykul could not bear to do it and secreted them away to Tirisfal Glades, where legends told that other vrykul had fled there with Tyr long ago.

Despite humans being descendants of them. I can totally see the Vrykul being aligned with the horde

Bleh, we have enough humans. Rotting humans and dragon humans.

You guys can add to your collection. You have bobble-head humans, short-stack humans, fat humans, average size humans and humans that turn into wolves plus the dragon humans.

Ok all joking aside… why would anyone want another human race? Them and elves are done to death.

I’ve said that you have ogres fighting vykrul for whatever plot mcguffin throw in a gnomish/goblin invention and poof it shrinks them down to about the size of a tauren. Done.

Vrykul females are the best looking females of any race in the game.

Vrykul males are the worst looking males of any race in the game.

I would love to see Vrykul added. Most likely as an alliance race. The lore could be that a clan of Vrykul, suffering the curse of flesh, started having smaller babies, so the entire tribe was banished from Northrend. They found an island, settled it, and now, they’re all smaller than other Vrykul, larger than humans. Hell, larger even than Kul Tirans. A Kul Tiran ship headed to the Dragon Isles, carrying a bunch of humans, runs ashore due to a storm. Seeing a race that looks like their most “cursed”, and another that is nearly as large as they are, both claiming to be of Vrykul origin, has flourished and thrived, they form a bond with, and eventually seek to leave the island and journey to Stormwind. While not all of the tribe leaves the island, many do. Those are the playable Vrykul of the Whatever Clan sounds good.

What is the compulsion toward inappropriate capitalization?

You act like lore is any sort of defense. Lore in this game is terrible and has been for many years now.

A big if they make them playable make them like Pandas and Dracs, open to all.

And I highly suspect someone would use Deathbysnu as a name.

You saw the details in the video or you don’t want to admit that they look spectacular

you mean to tell me you want humans then?? because maybe you didn’t know but…

Humans are shrunken Vrykul… like… i am not even joking on this Humans are shrunke Vrykuls, in fact why not ask blizzard to give Vrykul skin and design to the Humans?? or make a Ally Human race that resemble the Vrykul ?

like picture this a group of humans that landed in a part of the Dragon isles after running away from Northrend and they manage to keep the tradiction of the Vrykuls and this human eventually inherit a ability to grow in size to their Vrykul forms in battle.

Warriors already have this ability basically however this new human race basically can do this ability no mater their class.

In the vrykul there are many clans, if you didn’t know, there are even vrykul the size of a Zandalari.

I’m sorry, but those look like hunched over humans with fancy beards, receding hairlines, and hooked noses.

OP, I’m all for more options. But I have to say, personally, I’d rather we get new races that don’t look like they’re humans or slightly different flavors of humans. This is a fantasy game, I want fantasy races. We have more than enough humans at this point.

They look like humans with nice cosmetic options. Nothing Blizzard couldn’t just add as options to actual humans in the barbershop and call it good.

They’re amazing looking humans with bad accents.

Or at least Vrykul as a customization. If they were going to do this it should have been a thing of Legion.

There are already several spell effects that let you become a vrykul temporarily, using a slightly scaled-down model that’s about as tall as a tauren, and the game even changes your nameplate to reflect the change. The biggest problems with vrykul models are that they’re lacking a lot of animations, namely monk animations, and mounts don’t scale properly for them so they end up comically small.

Okay, the constant comments I’ve seen of “X should be/should’ve been added as barber options for Y” are really wearing me down, and this is just contributing to it. Vrykul are not humans. Part of the latter’s whole origin story is that they were vrykul children that were cast out for being physically stunted. Merging the two would infuriate more people than it would please.

Long before allied races came along and ruined the discussion of potential new races forever, people were asking for vrykul as a new race, not a new body type for humans. The average person still asking for them, like OP, doesn’t want them to be added as skins, especially one for a race that they’re thematically incompatible with. Vrykul are warriors, seafarers, and dragon tamers who generally don’t live in cities like Stormwind or Dalaran, and starting off as one in Elwynn beginning your paladin training along with all the actual human paladins would be a pretty big narrative and visual disconnect.

Another thing to note is that given their lore, vrykul would potentially have access to every class except DH and evoker, but Stormwind humans don’t have druids or shaman and Kul Tirans don’t have paladins, and some people want them on the Horde, which you also can’t achieve if they were just barber options.

They’ve evolved into separate races. Why would a human, any human, magically develop the ability to transform into their own progenitors? This is another issue I have where y’all propose ridiculous alternate solutions to just giving people what they want:

“I want X to be a playable race”
“X is boring, just make it customization for Y so we can get Z”
“But I don’t want X to be customization for Y”
“Okay, make a new version of Y that can transform into X like worgen”
“I just want X as its own thing, dude”

Ironically, that’s precisely what many people complained about Blizzard doing when they created void elves and dracthyr. I don’t really care either way what Blizzard does with vrykul, but it’s extremely disingenuous to lump them in with mechagnomes and Kul Tirans on the list of races that you wish were demoted to cosmetics because you think it makes it likelier for us to get sethrak, tuskarr, gnolls, or whatever it is y’all are begging for this month.
