Even as I write this, I am the absolute embodiment of the Hawkeye/Ronin “don’t give me hope” in the rain meme, but between the “more to come” comments from devs and the deafening silence of no “paladins for all” announcement following an expansion that gave us the Tyr’s guard… wouldn’t an unprecedentedly hyped powerleveling event like MoP Remix be the perfect time to throw in new race-class combos, specifically “[insert class here] for all” level changes?
Hell, “We converted some primalists” (isn’t there a quest along those lines?) and “the emerald dream welcomes all” could even open the doors for Shamans and Druids respectively, all just in time for the “sure, level a bunch of new 70’s” type event that Pandamonium is slated as!
There’s a creator’s summit on in London right now, and maybe this is all hopium, but there’s just this perfect window to leave us at only demon hunters and evokers being super exclusive going into the WSS, and a perfect time to level a bunch of new mains for those unlike myself who have had “paid race change bait” alts waiting for years!
I dont see demon hunters or evokers being made available to all races anytime soon. Especially with the lore set behind evokers and how heavily it is tied to the dracthyr race.
Druids are also less likely because they need to use unique forms for all the races. Sure they could use the existing ones, but we all know there will be a meltdown if they do that.
Im also hesitant on undead pallies still, 1 npc does not mean its possible for all undead and id like for them to keep some continuity with the lore. (Technically there are no holy undead priests in lore, but they cant deny an entire spec from a race). Also void elves would literally implode if they were paladins, they are the polar opposite of light infused beings.
Evoker’s actually way easier then most people think.
If you pick evoker your race get’s an extra option for horns and scales “kinda like DH and DK” that way evoker class is still a dragon you just picked blood elf or Night elf instead.
Role players can bridge any weird combo, though I do agree that demon hunters and evokers will likely take more time. If “the last titan” is actually Sargeras, that seems the earliest opportunity for demon hunters. I think dracthyr as a race will have their options expanded before evoker as a class does.
I had a “full-on TRP profile” void elf holy priest in a random dungeon the other day. She was quite good actually, and I told her so! There are few divides that RPers’ imaginations can’t cross.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence the last 3 are Paladins with unique racial paladin steeds, shamans with unique racial totems, and druids with unique racial shapeshifts. I don’t think they will be a small patch surprise, they’re going to take time and I’m going to guess Paladin and Shaman will be first, probably together, and Druid will take a lot longer.
Demon Hunter probably not for a very long time, but there’s a small chance. Evoker basically never.
That seems very unlikely to me. DF is pretty much done. The low effort put into S4 (much worse of a Fated Season than the one in SL) and attention being focused on universal WoW events that aren’t specific to retail are an indicator.
New class/race combos would be bigger news and I think they’ll save that for some time in TWW when there’s a content drought again. There’s no real need to do it now as the MoP event will drive engagement.
Let me see now… I am Blizzard and I can introduce all races/paladins in 10.2.7 which will earn the company more money in subscriptions…
Or I can wait and introduce it with a new expansion, using it as an extra selling point, earning the company more money in both expansion and subscription sales…
What to do, what to do?
Think I am going to go with option B.
And that is even if all races/paladins is even in development at this time. It may be backburned for the moment with all the other things going on.
The issue isn’t a lore one.
Let’s be honest, Blizzard doesn’t care about the lore, they just care about making money.
The issue is a resource one.
I don’t know what one has to do with the other.
Please tell me you’re kidding.
You desperately want paladins to be all races but don’t even want to play it thru the content?
Oh, yeah.
And I am taking away your hopium prescription because it appears to have led to a serious alt-ddiction. You can keep the copium prescription for now but I will be keeping an eye on you .
For all races/all classes?
Blizzard has already announced this is coming but Paladins, Shamans and Druids would take longer because they require extra assets, and have added 19 new race/class combo options since then, proving their intentions.
But apparently that was not enough. No, must have more! more! more! now! now! now!
Personally, if I were Blizzard, I would take my sweet old time about it because the very minute paladins, shamans and druids become all playable for all races, people will start relentlessly demanding dracthyr/all classes, all races/evoker and all races/demon hunter because people appear to be incapable of being satisfied with what they have.
You mean like light-forged warlocks…
Oh, wait.
In my personal head canon, none of these exist. They are other races using an illusion because, in the eyes of their true race, they are wanted criminals.
For instance, my son’s undead holy priest was actually a human priest wanted in Stormwind for treason and murder, and choose the illusion of the undead due to his great admiration for Sylvanas’s pragmatism when it came to loyalty and killing.
Actually, there an even easier way.
Just make the character turn into a dracthyr for combat like worgens with an auto-change back to base form afterwards.
I might even play that, even though I think the dracthryr form is the most bizarre-looking thing in the game.
