10/22 Frost DK changes

Y’all saw the upcoming changes to Deathbringer hero talents, right? How is nobody talking about this yet? Seems like single target is about to get a decent boost.

I already have but the forum still likes to complain we’re being nerfed without actually attempting to number crunch.

I’ve been running riders in PVP and PvE, so the DB changes are a little unexciting to me.

I might give it a go for a few keys, but it’s going to be hard to say bye to the horses.

DB changes arent going to be nearly enough for PvP

In other words, its not being talked about, because the game will virtually be completely unchanged

If you play riders your only take away is a 20% GA nerf. Doesn’t sound that good to me.

Im running deathbringer in PvP and im kinda excited to see what kind of damage howling blast can do. Other than that riders will probably still be stronger.

Nearly the exact same amount of damage it already does, Itll go from doing 3-4% of someones HP, to 4-5% of their HP

heres to another 2 years of frost dk being dogsh** before next xpac drops and they repeat it for another 2 years

Unfortunately HB as of now just hits like a wet noodle, I suspect it won’t be a significant enough of an increase to play DB in pvp as reapers mark is nerfed 40% and exterminate I believe 30% in pvp. And that’s your main damage with the hero spec lol. Riders is pretty nice for the burst and sustained damage. I’ve been running a very unique build I call big obliteration, I run a 2H in riders to get 40%+ obliteration damage. Get some meaty hits if the stars align! My biggest frits were in a AV game, 1.6m obliterate, 400k GA, 700K trollbane ice fury, followed by a 1.7m frost strike. Again, that was a stars align kinda moment not the usual hits. But boy was it fun seeing those numbers lol

2h riders is definitely a fun spec, I love the big oblits. I would also suggest trying riders with dual wield + shattering strikes + feast of souls. Frost strike slaps hard with this build, it’s kinda wild.

I for one am excited I hate the Horsemen summons. If I wanted “pets” I’d play Unholy! But currently Death Bringer feels… Clunky? So I’m playing Horsemen for smoother game play

So hoping this helps to smooth it out.

they really have to stop with the directional ability crap, frostwyrms, wave of souls, glacial advance, its all awful to play with in pvp where there isnt a pack of mobs being tanked and held still

I think fwf is good as a skill shot. You can snipe people through pillars and it’s a ranged stun. Fair trade off imo.

The welplings can go though. So pointless.

Frost dk is unique with how many abilities need to be ‘aimed’. Frostwyrm’s fury, pillar of frost whelpling, obliterate with glacial advance, breath of sindragosa, icy death torrent, reapers mark / wave of souls. Pretty fun imo.

Meanwhile UHDK, which has a way higher skill cap than FDK, slowly decays in the corner.

just because something is unique, doesnt mean something is good

theyre all bad abilities, the design is clearly for PvE at mobs being tanked and immobile

Nah it works fine. The numbers just need to be tuned a bit. Little more damage and little more tankiness and frost would be :ok_hand: :ok_hand: :ok_hand:

PvE game, we are an after thought and a small% of the playerbase.

I agree. I just got my Frost DK to 80 today, and am using the Obliterate Raid Non-Shatter build from Icy Veins with a 2 hander. I just love when the 4 Horsemen help me out. Loving Frost right now.

I used to like the old era frost DK when obliterate was the equivalent of a warlock’s chaos bolt, now it’s like playing beat saber, swinging air with no real oomph.

Some of the damage changes look nice.

Soul Reaper still needs MAJOR help

The nerfs to the survivability will certainly help offset them.
