This pvp talent needs a complete redesign. As it stands now, it will never be taken. Theres no scenario where an ele shaman will be able to stand there hard casting lightning bolts while losing all its instant lava burst procs.

sure there is… If you take this, you’ll have to hard cast LVB → you get kicked when casting LVB → you hard cast LB
most teams have multiple interrupts, and ccs.
Getting kicked on nature can be completely game breaking.
Im telling you, as a 3300 multi r1 ele. This talent will never be taken, with the exception of possibly one or two comps. (ele/lock or ele/mage, where the other team is training your partner, allowing you to cast freely.)

welcome to being a caster.
shadowpriest has disperse, warlock has port/sac/wall, mages have blinks and iceblocks.
Ele defensively is not designed to stand there and hard cast.

I do agree its usefulness is very limited.
But even you said there are cases where you would take it, that kinda defies the definition of “never”…
If anything, I’d say seasoned winds, electrocute, and spectral recovery needs some number improvement to be competitive.
Yea thats the only scenario can think of taking that talent, and even then, im not sure i would take it. Just weird they want to add in a talent that 99% of the time will not see play.
Electrocute should be baseline built into purge for every spec and the seasoned wind rework is also going to be extremely limited on when you can play it. (Basically only good into splay.)
only scenario is rbg. ele sham will never get that cast off. most specs have huge instant dmg and for ele to be singled out is the dumbest thing the devs did in a long time

Seasoned Winds is buffed for 10.1. The duration was increased slightly and it can stack 3 times.
after testing it on the ptr i wouldnt even use it in rbgs.

yea but it only affects the school that you landed the interrupt on. I dont see it getting value into anything except for affliction Splay
you gotta land every kick, into the SAME school for it to stack…
now what’s the odd of that happening??
If you miss a kick, there goes your stack. For anyone to take this, 30sec duration will probably do it.

Lol yeah. I could tell just reading the talent that it wouldn’t be usable. After testing it last night…no chance I’ll ever take it. Thankfully they baked dispel protection into the base flame shock spell, so we can still play our build from season 1.
What I’m afraid of is that Blizzard will read all the negative feedback about it, and decide they just need to nerf the standard lava surge playstyle to force us to use Volcanic

You can play the lightning build. With the lack of nameplates last night , I could not try any build out properly in BG’s but the lightning rod / Ele Blast build hits very very hard. It a straight one shot with skyfury out even with 25% nerfed crits.
Tried it out last night again after hating it on the ptr, it’s still not very good. The extra damage is great, but lava burst doesn’t hit hard enough to justify it without instant procs. The game environment is not designed around it or casting in general - even after all the recent changes and if we had precog crafted, it still feels bad.
Everyone knows to use a pillar against casters, instant on the move damage helped separate ele from other casters. Perhaps an icefury build with this and the tier 2pc will feel fine, but I don’t think it’s worth the pvp talent slot unless they turn it back into wotlk lava burst chunking people for 40%+ of their hp.

Not sure about that. I’ve hit 130k lvbs into 120k overloads.
Flux melting works before or after hard cast lvb so you can frost shock > lvb > lvb > frost shock into someone stunned and quite literally do 200 - 400k damage.
With ascendance I’ve outright killed someone in one lvb cast
Then there’s lightning bolt being disgusting all the time with overloads and crits. SK only amps it by 30%, like in the SS that’s a reg lb hard cast.
That said, like op mentions, ele really doesn’t have the wizard kit to just turret in modern arena.
