I’m not sure if they documented this, but I noticed a few things were nerfed.
-DoC took a big hit healing on average for 130-150k, 170-190k crit. While it’s still a substantial heal, it no longer approaches the 300k mark.
-After the wildfire heal seems to be less. I could be wrong, but it does seem lower.
-Cobalt Assembly Guardian’s Ring absorbs significantly less nearly 1/4th as much as it did.
Not a fan of any of the new additions or the changes made. Nothing was done to help our mitigation or our survival. Guardian feels worse off today than it did pre-patch. Very unfortunate.

Incarn nerf is also a pain point with zero compensation buffs. The spec lacks drive and creativity. Still have way too many two-point nodes.

seriously what’s the thought process for bliz when they decide to make these changes?
Druid biggest problem is our magic mitigation and to some extend our physical mitigation being so week compared to all other tanks maybe except monks.
But instead of redesigning this or fix our mastery stack, they came up with the idea of adding more dps component to us? and worst off, screw our talent tree n nerf incan??
i don’t get it… if u just want us to not play druid tank, just remove bear.

The DoC heal nerf is pretty sad. This was not even mentioned! I noticed today in Raid it was a lot weaker.

Funnily enough monks are now much better then bear, they got very significant buffs recently.

Guardian back to C tier tank status

Guardian is dead, Blizz absolutely trashed it. I’ve been playing league and some other games for the past couple days, and actually considering just cancelling my subscription.

Ya, I dont get it. Guardian was the lowest tier tank last xpac and it is once again in Dragonflight. The lack of communication from the dev’s on out tanking issues coupled with this round of changes that ignored our problems and actually nurfed us harder is mindboggling.

We’re the last two kids, waiting to be chosen for dodgeball.

Ugh… I’ll take… the monk
YES!
Oh… crap… I’m stuck with the bear.
YAY!
Shut up bear.
awww…

they do not care about us. They will only listen if we stop giving them money.

Was the Thrash/Swipe Spam with Incarn an intended nerf? My druid buddy telling me it is really killing then one good thing it had.
Yep it was intended. They enjoy kicking classes when they’re down. Pretty sure the devs get some sort of sick enjoyment out of it.

Damn with no compensation… that blows. I thought it was a mistake like how Renewing Mist aint even healing (not like low numbers… freaking 0 lol).
10.0.5 appears to have nerfed the entire “Laser Bear” spec altogether. I don’t think it’s even viable anymore. However, the left side of the Guardian Tree seems to be significantly tougher than before. I guess we call it the Thrash Build, with Shields, Extra CDs for damage reduction, and extra targeted heals with instant POWERFUL Regrowths while in bear form (Takes some skill as casting at wrong time pops you out of form). While this side was more geared to PvP the changes make it superior for PvE tanking too. Moonfire is a distant pull now, nothing more.
The left side is superior in just about every way for tanking now. I’m waiting for the websites to discover it too. Laser bear is FAR worse after the patch. It’s junk. IMHO.
Edit: Also, Bear DPS is down dramatically in either form. The ironfur damage is a joke. Not even worth taking.
I was pretty excited for this coming, since it meant I can use my rage on ironfur and get some damage out of it, but even stacking ironfurs in ideal circumstances it’s laughable damage.

All they’ve done is dissuade a bunch of people from playing end game content. I reached 2400, and was hoping to push higher. But ending my season now, as this is no longer viable to play with the current changes.

No developer notes on the patch notes regarding what the changes were trying to accomplish really make it hard to understand what the intent was…
There’s a decent video by Tactyks out there voicing some of my same concerns but here’s a short list:
-
The Nerf to Berserk’s CD reduction on Thrash/Mangle drops an already bloated 3m cooldown’s functionality. there are FIVE points to get full power out of Incarn which is still absolutely baffling to me. #feelsbadman
-
The pick rate on talent choices in Guardian (and Veng DH) are abysmal compared to other tanks. We simply have more 2-point choices that feel like bloat while too many options are in the third tier that creates unnecessary competition for our capstones. For our 31 points to spend, we can obtain 60% of available talents compared to 71.4% of talents obtained by Prot Warrior. 20 of those talents are in the last tier (compared to 14 again on Prot Warrior) competing for the last 10 points!
-
Guardian’s huge 50% aura buff applied at the beginning of the expansion makes using any non-guardian spells and most of the general tree traits not worthwhile. Because this aura only affects guardian spells combined with the fact our spec is “locked in” to bear form for a majority of PvE content, utilizing HotW (for example) is nearly impossible as well as not worthwhile due to the damage fallofff when used for our traditional cat/owl-weaving.
-
Several talent abilities just feel underwhelming. Lunar beam was removed for it’s abysmal pick rate and now it’s back without any sort of redesign. Pulverize still only affects a single target for it’s DR and removes bleed stacks, a tradeoff that doesn’t feel right in the new talent system. Let’s mix it up, here’s some suggestions:
- Pulverize damage to scale with thrash stacks, rather than deplete them. Balance the CD and/or the DR around it being a strong ST defensive and reposition it towards ST talents rather than sandwiched around thrash utility.
- Lunar beam to provide some overhealing protection in the form of damage shield or group healing and make it’s scaling feel like like a true capstone? idk…
- Reduce the number of berserk stacking traits. This is simply unnecessary, functions to gate other talents and leads to the overall bloat of the talent tree.
-
Both GG and Blood Frenzy existing as rage generation too far down in the tree. This make for some very awkward choices competing with capstones when these should ideally be picked up much earlier in leveling to smooth out the bear rotation for newer players especially.
-
I’d still like to see some sort of magic mitigation return to our kit after the removal of Mark of Ursol and Scintilating Fur in Legion. The later could be built into the layer mane talents to provide a % chance to add resistance to a school of magic.
-
Frenzied Regen is still on the GCD, limiting reactive gameplay. Give it it’s own short cooldown and let us press it when we need it like nearly every other defensive in the game.
-
Tooth and claw not affecting magic damage for over 2 years. This needs a fix, enough said.

Yeah it was, you could do some bigpulls and move the key forward since you have some dead time compare with other tanks, so that was your way of keeping tempo.
Now you cant do that, you struggle more, your dps output its not better than before and in a playstyle sense you feel weaker now.

0 Bears in the top 100 M+ tanks. 0 Bears in the top 150 tanks. 1 Bear in the top 200 M+ runners.
That one Bear’s take on the talents during his stream today? Reroll to a new class.
Nough said.

I don’t understand why they’d nerf the worse-performing tank? I don’t get it.
