Oh My!! I listened to centaurs talk about their ancestors oath from 10,000 years ago. I doubt they are a long lived race and started thinking…what do we know about humans 10,000 years ago in our world. Look up Cheddar man to find out. But these centaurs must have great memories or retain memories from their ancestors though DNA or magic or something…Like how many of you know what oaths Cheddar man took. Those Centaurs must be at an evolutionary dead end too…since I don’t think they have changed much in all those years. Then you think about races that live that long and I feel sorry for them…must be boring as heck

Isn’t communing with dead ancestors a common theme throughout the entire game? I feel like that would be a great way to carry on traditions and hold accurate knowledge. The reason we don’t know about Cheddar Man’s culture is because it no longer exists. There have been several cultures rise and fall or come in and conquered in Britain since he lived. The Centaur are one long unbroken and undisturbed culture with the oath being a focal point of their history.

However, 10,000 years there are a lot of dead and the living tend to want to only talk to close relatives or really famous people…history would be distorted.

They arent they are basically based on monguls and oral recorded histories go back far longer than any written.
Quite a bit tbh written languages have been around far longer than that it just took time to crack the code due to other human activities,
We dont know everything but we can tell what an ancient greek or egyptian ate for breakfast.

Boy are you wrong india alone has over 6000 yrs of written history eqyptians recorded almost 18000 years before the greeks took over.
Even if you walked into a cave found paintings you could tell how old it was when it was made what season and eventually by what tribe all based on what was used to create it.

You are thinking too much like a modern person.
This oath is a central cornerstone to their culture. It is something that would have been passed from one generation to the next with absolute reverence. I don’t know if you are old enough to remember when you had to say the pledge of allegiance or the lord’s prayer everyday at the start of school. It would be like that only without the politics sticking its fingers in to change it every few years because it’s a small tightly knit community.
