10.0 Time Travel Reboot Idea

I was thinking about the existing lore and how to take us back to the RTS time (story wise).

Have the Jailers cosmic crusade be against the Pantheon of Time, so he can go back to the pre-beginning before anything was made to unmake it all.

We obviously stop him. We also learn the full story behind the Helm of Domination.

But in the process a new villain Bad Dragon X is introduced. He can work with dreadlords or other evil baddies. (Has the infinite dragonflight been resolved?)

BDX and his cronies go back in time to Northrend as Illidan Stormrage is assaulting Icecrown glacier. Arthas is defeated and instead Illidan Stormrage fuses with the Lich King jeapordizing the timeline we know where Illidan helps imprison Sargaras.

The player would be introduced to AU azeroth through the Caverns of Time central hub. Explore AU Northrend + Dragon Isles + , work with a disgraced King Arthas in Azjol Nerub, and try to solve the time crisis.

It also can use the characters from the time dungeons coming out of the shadowlands

Tyrande - conflicted with Illidan, thinks she can use love to fix this version
Sylvannas - forced to work with AU arthas and put him on the throne. how humiliating. But she has to redeem herself for real. show it to us.
Jaina - again the arthas story. She is conflicted because working with arthas make her fall back in love with an idea of who he could have been.
Baine - just be the players perspective. Isn’t emotionally involved and can keep the cast of heroes focused on their greater goal and not be distracted.

Anyway I posted this here to see what lore buffs would say given the currently established universe/time stuff. I think an expansion where the “hub” is the caverns of time and its some transdimensional portal like what was above icecrown would be cool.

Murozond shows up after zoval destroys azeroth and we have to go back to a young azeroth and patch by patch leap forward stopping zovals future aka: help the old.gods corrupt azeroth so the titan soul awakens before zovals plan comes.to pass… it would keep the commission level threat and lore while grounding the gameplay back in azeroth

You arguably wouldn’t even need time travel for a soft reboot. The Jailer is after the Sepulcher to rewrite reality simply have him partially succeed and treat this like WoW’s version of a Flashpoint.

Its funny that everywhere I see WoW is being talked about there is always a voice that asks for WoW 2, new timeline, time travel.

Goes to show people are tired of this Danuser’s and Ion’s wild ride and want to get off.

I like the story alot I just think the jailer should win because defeating him rightnow wouldn’t be very rewarding

NO. Just no. Time Travel should never be used as a Plot device to fix a story.
Like, have you not seen End Game? Or Teen Beach Movie 2?

It NEVER works.

Indeed. Time Travel never works.

We would instead need a WoW 2 that starts off from where WC3 and the War of the Ancients Trilogy left off. It should follow the RTS Manuals and the War of the Ancients Trilogy more closely than WoW 1.

WoW 2 should have the Eredar be Demons before Sargeras found them and just like the WC3 Manual be stated to turn other Races into Demons.

If a Velen is deemed needed as a Character in WoW 2 feel free to have Velen’s Race be Humans(as Velen is based on Valen from Babylon 5 who was a Human who was turned into a Minbari) that the Eredar converted into a copy of themselves but with Blue Eyes instead of Green.

Arcane as mentioned by the Manuals must be Magic in general.

The Manuals state that Paladins wield the Holy Light and Purity therefore if we work on old D&D Rules let the Paladins who commit an act of Evil lose their connection to Purity(and thus immunity to Fear & Undeath as well as their ability to distinguish Evil and Good) and be left with only the Holy Light.

The Manuals state that Necromancers wield Arcane and Shadow(which is Red). Arcane means Secret according to the Dictionary and as such should include Fel(Yellow-Green), Chaos(Purple) and Death(Teal Green) Magics.

Neither the Manuals nor the War of the Ancients Trilogy mention the Elemental Lords yet the War of the Ancients Trilogy claims the Old Gods are beings of Elemental Fury so if WoW 2 is made it should feel free to make the Old Gods into the most powerful Elementals on Azeroth(Water, Fire, Earth, Air and Life).

I’m sure the Water, Earth and Life Gods would all have Tentacles coming out of them unlike the Fire and Air Gods! The fact that the RTS Manuals say there are 5 Old Gods while the War of the Ancients Trilogy shows Krasus only knowing of 3 Old Gods can simply be chalked up to Krasus’s ignorance or time-damaged memories.

WoD was sufficient enough evidence that time travel is an idiotic idea for this franchise. Just do a time skip.

One of the most frightening things I have ever read on this forum is that someone actually liked the novel “Warcrimes.” And that was just the beginning of the timey wimey stuff of WoD. That part where they are fighting their evil twins from some other time and dimension was so hackneyed.

We can barely trust Blizzard with some bland good vs evil story based on Azeroth in the present - which should be easy. I would not strain them with more time shenanigans.

I love how now people are taking my timeline breaking theory seriously.

I said it here first.

Now about my theory of Tyr coming back in Shadowlands as someone on the same physical scale as the jailer, giving a big win to The Light in the face of it’s defeat in Revendreth.

The Army of the Light do need a new central figure now that X’era is obliterated. I would like the Army of Light and the paladins to have Tyr back as a guiding force against the evils of Death.
