For a gnome warlock I have 2 ways to get 100% mount speed, either buy a mecha mount, or do the ridiculously long dreadsteed quest line, correct? I just want to make sure I’m not doing the dreadsteed thing if I could just buy faster speed or something. I seem to remember doing that back in the day, but that’s been many, many years.
Yes, you must do the quest or buy the mount
You can grind Exalted rep in AV and buy the Stormpike Battle Charger, it’s a ram mount that doesn’t require ram riding. If you get Sergeant rank, it ends up being 640 gold (720 without Sergeant).
That’s what I did instead of my Paladin mount quest.

The one nice thing about the questline is that a guildie already has the required vendor items, so you won’t need to buy them, that saves you quite a bit.
Be a sport and hit them with 50-100g afterward.
156 for quest items, +very server dependent prices (500g on my server) + another warlock…Just do AV
