Hi!
I have a M1 SSD for my OS, a 240GB SSD for WoW and a 512GB hard drive for storage and other games, my hard drive is showing 100% usage whenever I load a new zone in WoW, it makes loading screens take forever and drop frames, I unplugged the hard drive and it improved massively,
Do any of you guys know what I could do, other than unplug my HDD before playing WoW?
I have the same problem, my ssd has high Ms, slow loading screen and crashes in the world, for example open map. My SSSD is Kingston a400 240 gb
I know this is a longshot and being asked a LONG time after these posts were made, but have either of you solved the issue? I’ve been running into the same thing where WoW is installed on an SSD, but it’s the HDD that’s having disk usage.
Open Windows’ Resource Monitor and check the “Disk” tab. You’ll be able to see the disk activity, so you should be able to establish what is causing this usage.
You’re probably running out of VRAM, which spills over into the shared RAM and if the RAM runs out, it spills over into the pagefile. Your pagefile is probably on the HDD. Like ihatetrance said, you can check the usage in the resource monitor. Pagefile operations will usually show pagefile.sys, but sometimes it will show up as some other system-like name. Sort by “Total B/s” to make it super easy to see what’s using the most.
Close out of every single other thing other than WoW, do a full WoW UI reset and test again. And post a DXDIAG report as well because a TON of things can cause this kind of issue ranging from memory leaks to viruses to out of date drivers to bad addons to having 300000000 tabs open, etc etc.
