10.0 Could realistically end the Faction Divide

10.0 could Realistically end the Faction Divide or at least, dramatically lessen it’s effects.

BFA clearly felt like the Nail in the coffin for the factions, an Expansion that was marketed entirely about the Faction War, ended up with Characters holding hands, Alliance and Horde Forces standing together as one, Anduin giving a speech in Orgrimmar, and us Teaming up against the Old Gods.

Blizzard has shown with Flying colors, exactly how petty and meaningless the Faction War is. The Only Reason the Factions go to war with each other, is to set up for a more substantial and important Villain later down the road.

And After our “War” in BFA, what do we get? An Expansion where the factions do not matter, and are entirely insignificant to the greater plot of Shadowlands.
Alliance and Horde players both explicity aid characters like Jaina, Thrall, or Tyrande.

Clearly Blizzard has shown that as soon as something more important exists in the Story, the Factions are entirely meaningless.

Meanwhile, In Classic:

The #No Changes community had to bite the bullet and accept that Faction Imbalance is simply too bad for the game to properly function, and now Battlegrounds are Cross Faction to allow for better gameplay for everyone. I’m sure plenty of people are upset about the Integrity of the factions, but Blizzard has decided that gameplay is more important.

In Summary:

Cross Faction gameplay allows for a smoother, more freeing game play experience for Everyone involved.

Blizzard has shown they understand that Gameplay is more important to the game than arbitrary faction lines.

Everyone should be able to Play the game how they want, and with anyone they want, Regardless of something Arbitrary like Race Choice. If a pair of friends both Discover WoW, and one of them Really loves Dwarves, and the other Friend really loves Goblins, then Nothing should prevent them from playing their favorite races together.

And of Course, for those Die Hard Faction Fans. They should have the ability to Make “Horde Only” or “Alliance Only” Groups and Guilds. Let people choose to restrict themselves if they want.

No thank you.

I actually think the game would be better, and healthier in the long run. But thanks for your input.

I agree, they could allow cross-faction content while keeping the faction “limitations” (race, capitals, armor, etc)

Absolutely. Keep the “Theme” of both factions intact. Just get rid of the arbitrary gameplay restrictions.

the issue with story based faction is both sides complain about how their faction’s portrayed or what do they get in return

In Wrath and MoP, Alliance had more favoritism with lore (as horde rarely had things save for Sylvannas.) Heck, when the outcome of MOP led to the Alliance victory, Alliance players screamed for moar (eg, occupation of Orgrimmar and Durotar.) The Devs stated they made enough concessions that wouldn’t alienate Horde Players.

Most of the Horde’s benefits was PvP racials that benefitted them. However, with the introduction of Allied Races, Alliance now have that edge.

Also, you do know that you still have conflicts when everyone’s united (see WoD and Legion.)

I wouldn’t mind it, especially if we could queue up for the dungeons and raids together. Outside of that it becomes complicated a little with our quest lines and stuff.

Could be as simple of having warmode on if you don’t want to queue with the opposite faction.

I’d actually like to see something like this. Even if players won’t be welcomed in opposite faction’s capitols. Or if each player will have a new Renowned Systems that they will have to level with each race, to become welcomed in their zones. Could also add a 3rd faction that’s an enemy to all of Azeroth.

Not to derail your post … but it would be nice to see Goblins and Gnomes share a bit of tech, for maybe a new tech class!

Oh that’s a nice idea.

no thanks. to many still enjoy the whole wpvp thing stuff like that and ya i know wpvp could still happen but so lame when doing stuff with horde all the time lol. i honestly can’t stand when we join to fight some big evil thing pretty lame ruins the story they write everytime. its flipside across the ocean ain’t no big deal and the whole i can’t afford to roll horde or alli cause i can’t afford it can’t join my friends is pointless now considering how easy it is to make gold and buy tokens to do it. the game has bigger issues plaguing it than this rather that get focus.

Atp there is no excuse on the lore. 0. Jaina and Thrall are literally working together in the new raid. Every single last boss from wow has been taken down by both factions. We are, after all, just a bunch of adventurers, so, we should be able to work together even if our factions have their conflicts.

I really do not like the idea of breaking down the faction divide. I won’t mind gameplay relaxing for SPECIFIC content. Mercenary mode allowed us to help fix those queues a bit by opting in to play the lower populated faction. I wouldn’t mind LFG allowing people to group up for instances. But when it comes to questing and open world; I want to have my story and factions separate.

Why do I want this? The factions have grown a great deal of division against one another. The Alliance has more than enough reasons to want the Horde dead, but are lead by incompetent idealists who get more of their soldiers killed than its worth. The Horde has a struggle between their conquering natures and self-preservation. Often either going down in a blaze, or erupting everything in said blaze.

I cannot realistically see Zandalari Trolls, Night Elves, Orcs, or Humans working together in a lengthy effort together. Too much blood has been spilled by one another’s hands to just say “bygones be bygones.” The individual few can reject history for a chance to work together; but societies will clash until one side is dead, or ready to accept defeat.

Hey they could’ve realistically end the faction war after every major fight, after WoD after cata after wrath and pandaria but no cause people want boring things

The faction divide should have ended a long time ago. Since vanilla we’ve been teaming up to stop some world/universe/reality ending threat and have agreed to a peace/ceasefire a few times over now.

It’s time to end the faction divide and allow both factions to group up with each other. Keep Battlegrounds as a skirmish type thing, think of it both sides fighting small war games to keep each other sharp and ready for the next conflict while allowing the players to group up for raids and dungeons while also being able to join the same guild if they wish.

Its about time they do like this war is just pointless now like just let it end, honestly it should of ended with MoP would of been perfect considering the themes and the reactions of pandaren especially with Taran Zhu who literally called it a Race War

Taran Zhu calling it liking it is.

Classic is turning into AU Azeroth… It could end up spawning an expansion crossover where both Classic and Retail collide to make 1 solid lore game. They just need to make smart subtle changes instead of just rereleasing.

A simple fix is to just Sync everyone to the party leader. Sure it’s not exactly more friendly, but it’s an easy all around fix.

Bingo.

This is absolutely true. But on an individual player basis, everyone should be free to choose who their friends are.

The Player Character does not have to embody the culture or heritage of their entire people as a whole.

In fact, I remember a story in BFA about a goblin and gnome couple and it was easily one of my favorite quests in WoW history.

No thanks.

We should be trying to make factions more interesting. BfA did some of it right with unique stories, zones, gear sets, etc. Even if the war campaign wasn’t all that great.

I want to keep the faction divide.

The faction war should’ve started ending mid-late pandaria and been fully done during WoD. Literally every expansion since then Alliance and Horde have worked together for almost EVERYTHING. Let us play with our friends on the opposite faction and let us finally have proper peace damn it - no one cares about this dumb faction war anymore.
