10 ways to improve work orders (mostly patron orders)

  1. Should either be weekly or bi-weekly (similar to world quests), not daily
  2. Multicrafting should yield higher rewards (either gold, materials, or acuity)
  3. Using inspiration or crafting a higher rank should also yield higher rewards.
  4. Materials not specific for that profession should be provided (ex. cloth/leather/alloys in Engineering orders)
  5. Costly materials, such as Sanctified Alloys, should be included more often, if not all the time or give a higher rewards if not provided.
  6. Should include all potential crafts (even unlearned patterns) to incentivize collecting all patterns.
  7. Option to save orders, change orders, or delay them.
  8. Maybe add a special, rare, high cost orders with some sort of epic rewards.
  9. Maybe add work orders for older expansion crafts (can be both learned and unlearned patterns).
  10. Add work order tab for warbands.

I disagree with this, fundamentally.

The point of patron work orders is to serve as a means to get knowledge points, first and foremost. Tying to patterns not readily available more than already, punishes people for not doing that content.

My patrons routinely have PvP patterns in them, and I don’t PvP, so that is orders I will never complete, putting me at a disadvantage.

This is one that I agree with. The way things are right now Dredger’s Plate Sabatons w/ all mats provided gives the same rewards as Earthen Master’s Hammer with no mats. The only time I’ll consider something requiring me to provide Sanctified Alloy is if it’s a first craft, but even then I’m concerned about the cost.

The rewards from the craft need to be proportionate to what we’re being asked to provide. A few 1 star quality mats from an artisan’s satchel and maybe 1-2 knowledge points or artisan’s acuity is not worth the thousands of gold worth of mats I’m asked to provide to craft rare or epic quality NPC crafting orders. I’d like to see a much higher chance for NPCs to provide all of the alloys, expensive hides, etc. with their crafting orders.

I think some of the rewards should include unlearned patterns from previous expansions.

Kind of like how you can get transmog from the DotI dungeon.

earlier in the week i had 5 patron orders up that gave 0 mats and was all epics so every 1 was sanctified alloys. only 1 gave knowledge and none of the 5 gave even 100 gold. if the point of patron orders is to give knowledge or make it so we dont have to go on alts to make orders for the quest then for blacksmithing they have failed. if its a piece of gear that needs a spark and wants me to foot the bill i want 10 knowledge and a minimum of 5k gold to even think about it. as far as blacksmithing goes i actually miss df since it was better. we didnt have patron and i would just do orders for myself on alts and then do the quests and be done for the week. no need to debate sinking gold or be angry im missing knowledge for not sinking thousands of gold

I am quickly approaching the point of buying PvP recipes on the Auction House. This is mostly because those are quite lucrative Public orders, but for how often the PvP gear orders have augment runes attached to them. If that keeps up, selling the runes will pay for the recipes and then some.

i guess i complained enough this week cause i finally got a order for boots with all the mats and knowledge
