10 Man Mythic

Still want it

When I read this I immediately thought of spine of deathwing

Anyone that is thinking about mythic flex: prepare to keep the bench warm.

10man mythic sounds enticing but many hc guilds will also have to downsize or bench heavily. And you still need 10 each time just like you need 20 now. Sounds fine today, creates the same problems tomorrow.

With the current mechanic scaling, 10 man raid teams are at an extreme disadvantage from the larger groups. It’s really fun when your tanks get targeted by Dread Rifts and Rays of Anguish on the 1st boss of the raid.

All the more reason to add it, bigger challenges, sign me up. If 10 man ended up being harder then so be it. I came here for a challenge. Hardest part about Mythic right now is maintaining a 20 man roster consistently. There are really no difficult mechanics, only attention checkers. If 10 man made the game feel like Dark Souls, I’m all for it.

This is why I only do keys. I would love to mythic raid if it was a smaller group and not such a massive time sink on tedious BS.

Basically like a 10 man m+ boss rush but with no timer. Sounds fun af.

basically you only want to do easy content, you are not fit for mythic raiding anyway.

You can still make meaningful, challenging content with varying group sizes (group size does not proportionally affect the difficulty of something) look at the mage tower, that’s an example of something that can be difficult for solo players. If we’re looking at other games, think the Inferno in OSRS, or Ultimates in FFXIV (8 man content BTW and many say it’s actually harder than MYthic in WoW). You can have a 10 man experience be difficult and meaningful.

nobody said otherwise. it’s an issue of balance between modes, not an absolute inability to make hard content at a particular size.

They have the resources to balance it, they just won’t due to lack of community outreach/discussion. If more people expressed interest in it, they would invest time/money into it. And for all those who use the old ‘oh you’re just not cut out for mythic raiding’ response (which usually comes from lack of perspective/experience and from people who were not around long enough to witness meaningful 10m content)… I’m a multi-CE raider, still in a top guild roster on my main (not this toon), and a top performer in heroic/mythic logs (consistently top 10% in my class). I have and always will push the highest form of content the game has to offer, it’s just how I and many other players are. I just think I’m in the boat of old-school players who liked that 10 man approach we had so long ago. Teams felt more coordinated, player choices/utility felt more impactful and it didn’t feel like a cluster. Plus in a 10m raid, if they balanced it right, things would hit harder, mechanics could be more complex - the overall encounter would be more engaging/interesting. I’m also in the boat of having about 10 really close friends who play this game at a high level and just want to play the hardest level of content together, without an extra 10 random people or having to deal with mass recruiting (we’re fine playing with new players and new people, but managing 10 new people can be a pain, let alone a 20 man roster) - we just want to play the game the way we enjoy without being stressed by the theoretical roster boss and gated by the 20m requirement. Sometimes just managing a full roster is stressful and it can be more difficult than the actual game itself, and requires more time than actually playing the game. And if you say ‘then don’t manage a mythic guild’ then you’ve been indoctrinated by poor game design and you’ve likely never had to manage a Mythic roster.

Hardmode sort of does this but it is 5 man. My vote is to keep raid the way it is but also keep hardmode and hey, maybe even a super duper hurricane mode. That drops mythic gear for 5 man.

10man vs 25man was successful in wotlk.
It was not successful in Cata by dev design. Did you play in Cata?
Regardless, doesn’t matter, we have flex.
A viable 2heal prog comp would be nice tho.

I did play cata, I think cata suffered among other things, many say that was when the game saw its first major decline.

Honestly a separate 10 man raid aside from the 20 man would be nice. I was just thinking about expansions like BC where your full tier wouldn’t just be found in one raid but multiple. Miss the days where there weren’t just 3 raids per expack. I would be happy with smaller 20 man raids to allow room for more short raids. Perhaps making a 10 man only raid to release alongside the 20 man or mid-major patch. Blizz are experimenting more than they have in the past now, particularly with end game pillars. Maybe 10 man only could be a separate pillar altogether with its own raids/challenges.
