1-Year sub, but already have 6-month sub

I asked a GM about getting a 1-year sub, but I already have a 6-month, so he said they would have to run concurrently…is this an oversight (business as usual for Blizzard) or some FOMO tactic / cash grab so people grab the 1-Year to get the mounts?

Or can I cancel the 6month sub get reimbursed for what’s left and grab the 1-year.

Or are they gonna fix this issue? I mean come on NO ONE at Acti-Blizz small independent company saw this overlap as an issue?

Yea this DEFINITELY happened

So you have 18 months now and get all the items anyway. What’s the issue?

Or did you just not read the actual text on the announcement

They knew a lot of people would be getting the 6 month sub to return with the new patch, that’s why they waited a week after it launched to run this promotion. It’s just a cheap cash grab to see if people would be willing pay for 18 months in advance :stuck_out_tongue:

If they wanted they could simply make it so those of us who already have 6 month subs (I subbed the day they released the patch) could simply update the 6 month sub to a 12 month one and only pay the difference, but nope, if we want it we have to pay in advance for another 12 months that will be added to the account as game time, forcing us to get 18 freaking months in advance.

Blizzard being a bunch of greedy richards as usual.

Aye I had just had my auto renew happen right around the patch and then they announce the yearlong subscription days after that. I prefer the one year, but no way I am going to pay $84 then another $156 in a time when inflation is high, jobs are possibly about to start laying off and I have to replace my heating system before the winter hits.

Issue is I am already 2-months into my 6-month sub and its not very clear to me if the 1-year sub will be amalgamated into my current 6-month sub or will this be like having two subs running on the same account…

Usually what would happen is you purchase the yearlong and it’s added onto your remaining 4-month subscription. So, if in January your 6-month would end, then if you purchased right now then your next subscription would end a year later in January,

if you purchase they will add 12 months on top of the 4 months you have left, but it will count as game time instead, you’ll be charged immediately and then every 12 months after that.

here’s a thought…why not just wait until your 6 month runs out and THEN purchase the 12 month if u want it so bad???

It is added onto what you have left of the 6 month sub. You are not losing anything

Only thing I could see happening is they remove some of the free items with the subscription between now and time it comes for renewal. Or they get so much backlash from how they introduced this model, and they remove it as an option.

It wont be eligible by then.

where does it say when this 12month thing ends?

12 month sub should be a permanent offering. There is no reason to not have it as an option.

The announcement came out 5 days ago, there is no way you talked to a GM that quickly.

Also, this is not true. The 1-year sub starts directly after the end of your 6-month sub…they run sequentially

Well received your request to upgrade your 6-month World of Warcraft pre-paid subscription to a 12-month subscription.

Please note that if you set up a 12-month sub you will be charged immediately, no matter your current subscription/game time status and your 6 months pre-paid subscription will not be reimbursed. Our tools also don’t allow to upgrade your subscription for a 12 month.

Lastly, I am afraid that we cannot refund your 6-month pre-paid subscription order since you already used the game time.

As a player, I understand that this is not what you expect to hear from us. We hope that you will understand, and we are really sorry for this inconvenience.

Have a wonderful Gaming time!

How does it feel that they reply to me faster?

Wrong. My husband put in a ticket to ask the same sort of thing, as he renewed his six month sub on 24 October, just a week before the 12 month deal was announced. He heard back from a GM in 48 hours.

The answer was basically “suck it up and spend another $156 if you want the mounts” so there it is.

That’s why I’m waiting until January. Still enough time to buy it, but my sub will be closer to the end of the 6 months I’m on.
