got banned this am, a few of the things listed on the report includes

there are two unsavory things i cant post, which included profanity but was just me saying how affliction feels like “butt”, and telling one person to play near my port in a less than mature way(1000% my fault). im not worried about the ban. im worried that the more normal comments are the vast majority of the “reason” for the ban. i dont know if thats the case, but going forward im going to be a bit nervous to type in chat at all.
i try not to rage, although it does happen, but this makes it feel like i can’t even communicate. i told someone nice heals yesterday because i thought we were dead 3x and he told me to end my own life, that’s verbatim. I hope people like that receive the same treatment that i did.

it depends. is the lesson “dont talk to people at all”, yes, because thats how i plan on handling it. if the lesson is “dont use swear words” then probably not tbh, most of the people that play wow are adults, and its how adults talk. its kind of crazy that this is where things go because you use big kid words and people really can’t handle seeing it, in a game that i believe has a profanity filter IIRC

i feel like, as per usual, we’re zeroing in on the wrong thing here.
there are 7 quotes in the report i have. 5 of them are not inflammatory at all, contain zero profanity, and aren’t even close to a personal or general attack on anyone in the lobby.
affliction feels like a** doesn’t feel ban worth to me at all, and the last line, me complaining that someone didn’t play near my port and then flamed me, is my fault, as i already stated. so thats how it is? you say one thing wrong and blizz drops the hammer? that’s gross.

When you get reported, it might capture all the stuff you’ve typed recently. Maybe they include all the quotes for some context?
Otherwise, they can say you said this bad word, and you’ll be like… I don’t remember doing that at all.

You won’t find any sympathy here but the truth is Blizz went a little knee jerk on the social contract stuff.
Can’t think of any reason why they’d do that.
Their logs go back quite a ways. You can submit a request to get a copy of your data and chat goes back like 6 months or something. It also keeps track of when you logged into each char at what time and from what IP.
I had a buddy submit an appeal for something he said and was going to have his silence overturned but the GM saw something he said a few weeks prior and suspended him for even longer.
