Can a WOW build be done with 1k dollars?
If so build me one.
You need a monitor with that too or nah

had to cut some corners to get that $1k price point. if no display, get a 6700XT and a better storage drive like the Western Digital SN770.
Thanks for the info
logical increments has a 12400F/RX 6700 XT build for $1k that will run WoW with ease. You can check that out for some ideas.
Or be lazy and just click buy. $1030
Can try STUDENT code to bring lower but it wasn’t working for me

This 1k prebuilt lynx is the lowest of 4 choices. It has good value for its cost.
If you can spare it though, I’d really suggest going for the 1,500$ build instead. It is the 2nd best of the 4 prebuilt lynxes and should slam modern games.

This is a pretty solid build but I would go for a Ryzen 7 5700x if you can fit it into your budget. A 5600x is pretty great but WoW is CPU intensive, especially with the release of DF. You want that extra kick in power.
It’s CPU intensive, but not really very multicore optimized.
There’s a small bump from cache and factory frequency by going to the 5700x, and I would absolutely choose to go 8 core too, but budget
WoW still uses a main core but is better at tossing out draw calls to a few other cores (3 or 4). CPUs for gaming should really be looked at as a singular performance entity rather than be split apart based on cores, cache, etc., If you wanted a real world difference to get “that extra kick in power” you would need to go with the 5800X3D in this scenario over the 5600x (as opposed to the 5700X) but that would blow the 1k budget. The 1k budget also means any of the GPUs mentioned in the thread would make the system GPU limited in most scenarios so the performance differences you see in many benchmarks would not be as drastic.
The 5700X would make since if you were looking to stream due or had programs that could use the extra multithread performance.
So not lookin to stream. Way to fat and ugly for that … No one wants to see this face.
I got a 1660 super now and it seems good, could I spend more on the processor and use the 1660 super till I can upgrade or would it not work well
really depends on your CPU but for WoW to be playable it’s not very CPU demanding. The 1660 should give you good performance at 1080p at high settings
Those all kill the budget though. Remember, $1k includes everything else.
5800x3d is 1/3 the budget alone.
This is why I chose the 5600. It’s cheap, and has 6 strong cores.
I’m not disagreeing with you. I agree based on that budget and the slim improvement for pure gaming the 5700x shows, the 5600/x make the most sense. My point was more the 5700x was not a major improvement in that scenario.
(sorry for posting from different characters, but mobile won’t let me change characters)
Yep. Budget kind of limits things and I’d rather allocate more to GPU since even WoW can really saturate a powerful one, and then you figure there’s other games you’d want to play too eventually since this game tends to fall out after a few months.
