That’s my read of the situation as well. If porting it over to console in an attempt to get more normies/casuals to whip out their credit card and subscribe is the goal - then they basically need to dumb it down as much as possible for the mass-market, “braindead” 1-button rotation accomplishes this

You could just revive TBC destro warlock of optimal rotation that is 100% shadowbolt.
It’s a HUGE stretch to say it isn’t.
It’s for people who can’t press all the buttons because of limitations. GSE does this. Look up that addon. That is what this is.
It does not do optimal rotation. It’s a random sequencer with a GCD.

So they don’t use all abilities, do a simpler rotation. Do less damage.
Instead of auto rotation, that only does less damage, because Blizzard hates you.
What good is this then? It’s 100% useless.
Again this is for people who are disabled that have hand limitations. It is not for optimal play.

If so, every time I suck (every key) I’m going to say I use this addon 
So they bind one key, spam until it dies.
It’s less effective, and functional.

It’s not optimal, and you don’t need to develop something that only has limitations just cause.
No. They’re indirectly asking for it.
They want the game to stay the same. Complex.
Blizzards solution to appease them, is giving auto-rotation for the players complaining of the complexity.
Doesn’t solve the issue though. Just makes the game mindless.

It’s not just cause. It’s because they are adding addons to the game so people have the option of using them less. People were already using GSE for this.

Because taking away stuff from the majority for the minority shouldn’t be a thing. Now you have options to learn.
Literally none of this is for top end raiding nor listening to them.
Thus why they’re implementing these options.

Blizzard is definitely good at stoking controversy lately
Then they can continue using GSE which can also get you banned if you relentlessly spam it lol. It’s literally on the addon website. (Don’t flood servers.)
They can but what Blizz wants to do is make more addons baseline. Blizz is adding a GCD, so there will be no spam. No flooding.
The entire issue, right here. You’re what’s left after everyone else has quit. Are you the majority, or the minority in that situation?
