Not a huge deal but you have to keybind “one button” on your main action bar AND your stealth bar since blizzard decided it was a good idea to use stealth/vanish as an offensive cooldown. Since one button is mainly for new players or alts, they might not think of this and that is your time to burst dps. Maybe a warning to rogues or something when they mess with it. Ive played rogue for a long time and didnt immediately think about it so maybe there are others out there like me.
I tried OBR a few days, just goofing around. My muscle memory just would not let me do it. The buttons that lit up on the screen didn’t match what lit up in my brain.
A word of warning: do not use one button for Subtlety. It plays the spec very suboptimally and your DPS will be garbage.
Yea, one button just doesn’t seem to make sense for rogue. Stealth is too core to the rotation and just can’t see effectively weaving in stealth with 1 button. Kind of a shame because if there is a class that needs 1 button, it’s rogue.
You have it backwards. Rogue is a high skill cap class and a 1 button rotation for it naturally wont be optimal. Nor should it ever be optimal.
It’s not optimal and I don’t believe anyone thinks it should be.
The point of 1 button is that it’s worse than optimal. The problem is that it’s a lot worse than the amount of sub-optimal it’s supposed to be and 1 button is an accessibility feature to make casual stuff playable.
Rogue started off with two easy specs in the beginning. Who the frick slapped the “meant to be hard” label on us!
Now we have 3 Red Bull required to play specs. We are low population and filled with elitists.
Those who started rogue in easy mode had the script slowly flipped on them. Some are now like me and fell in love with and invested in a char they can no longer play because some grand poobah flipped our switch to hard.
I don’t mind if people want to gatekeep Sub to be the complex single target raiding spec. But Assassination and Outlaw have gone too far to one extreme from the other IMVHO! Gatekeeping to keep all three specs complex to the point that the best you can pull off is above average numbers is insanity LMAO.
all the rogue specs need to have their kit given back. we were stripped and then given some of them back as filler talents.
outlaw needs to have some of the pvp nerfs unthrottled a bit to bring back some of the damage
Yeah that is what makes Rogue talent tree so punitive compared to other classes.
This.
The one button system is supposed to either:
a.) teach the player their rotation or
b.) work as a stop-gap for people with legit disabilities
The problem with sub is that you have to play the spec in a very complex, specific way in order to actually do decent DPS. Right now the one button system plays sub flat out wrong and will just eat cooldowns the second they are up. When I tried the one button on my sub rogue I was doing like 800k DPS at ilvl ~655
Nobody is asking for the one button system to give you competitive DPS, but it should at the very least go through your rotation fairly correctly. This suggests to me that the one button dev(s) - or worse, the WoW devs in general - do not know how to play sub correctly. This should be a big red flag for our spec design.
I truly believe this is all a cover for the real reason for OBR. Blizzard is experimenting with ways to bring WoW to gaming consoles. They are trying to figure out how to make rotations simple enough to use with a game controller without totally gutting every class.
Believe it or not there are people who use addons to play the game totally legit with a controller. I doubt the one-button system is meant for crossplay.
We already established youre an idiot.
Great post and let me concur with your thoughts for you are a valued member of the WoW and Rogue community.
