Base pet speed is now standardized for all pets, including legacy pets. Pet speed can still be modified through the talent Bestial Swiftness and pet abilities such as Charge, Dash, etc.
All hunter pets will now always deal Physical damage for their base attack.
Are we getting legacy pats in classic or standardized pets? What do you want?I would personally like to see legacy pets up until AQ launch tbh.

Nufan I hit up the wayback machine, pet attack speed nerf did indeed come in 2.0

Pet attack speed was normalized in 2.0
Legacy and NEVER change them back. Even if I never play a hunter I feel like 1.9 stripped them of feeling and meaning
Huh. So broken tooth's speed changed from 1.0 to "X" standardized rate in 1.9?

I can kind of agree, this is a really big thing that people don't talk about much. Lupos and a handful of other pets are very unique.
I would like whichever version of pets keeps every pvp hunter from using a ZG bat, because the noises those annoying things make is like nails on a chalkboard and I can still hear them in my head 15 years later.
Seriously though, I never played a hunter seriously in vanilla and probably never would so my knowledge on them is limited at best... BUT fwiw I did think there's some merit to the early system of pets where pets where almost like a mini pokemon game with different stats/abilities and whatnot... Cool concept at least, no idea how it actually really played out.
Attack speeds didn't change until 2.0 or 2.1 IIRC, it was movement speed (ie. the frostwolf and the ZG bat) that got the nerf bat in 1.9

I am trying to find data to back that up, I have heard that as well. I don't remember off hand. I am looking over patch notes and can't find anything besides 1.9
Edit*

Thank you.
Every hunter is going to have a ZG bat pet (unless the v2.0 pet attack speed nerf goes live). Attack speed, aoe debuff, spammable attack, dive, and, of course it comes at 60. Unfortunately they will lose their obscene speed =/
Maybe I'm biased because I mained a hunter back then, but I miss one shotting everything but plate and using an AV wolf to harass people at the alliance Warsong Gulch camp from the safety of the horde camp with Eyes of the Beast. Win some, lose some. Aimed shot might be normalized (RIP, Ashre'thul, Clothbow of Smiting), but at least it's not going to be a crappy version of mortal strike.

we are getting 1.12. why would 2.0 go live?
so no more worries here.
There is still the lupos question, snarler was also a very weird pet.

There is a handful of unique things.

I mentioned attack speed in my OP because i thought it occurred in 1.9. I changed it since then. I was having a hard time finding data for it in 2.0
I can tell you as someone who didn't play until like 1.10 or 1.11, that in 1.12 attack speed was not normalized. I raided and pvped with Brokentooth and he had an attack speed of 1 second in 1.12

yes. that is why i said no more worries here. since that was straightened out.

Well, first possibility, they continue to release content for the classic servers (It's what Everquest did/does for theirs) I recall the phrasing "starting with 1.12" which is ambiguous.
Secondly, there's no guaranteeing they won't pick and choose which features/balance changes make it in. There is precedent already, there was no sharding in vanilla, no tradeable loot either, but they insist they're going to shoehorn those in.
