I can imagine the newcomers check out SOD, and see that they have to go from 1-50 while dealing with getting corpse camped repeatedly and go naaah… even with the xp buff. And they have less than 2 months before the level cap gets raised again.
Also, I thought they were going to make the old runes easier to acquire. The ones that require party members are going to get harder to do, especially on dead servers. Any chance they will add more catchup mechanics to bring in fresh blood, or has the ship sailed for those who haven’t started SOD yet?

there are these things called pve servers. and there are plenty of people that still level alts doing all the rune stuff
and they did add “catch up mechanics” you get a ton of xp doing anything having to do with leveling

Imagine if a new player understood what a PVP and PVE server was and their differences.
The world would be a better place and we wouldn’t have nonsensical threads like this.

Why would these mystery players roll PvP realm when they don’t like PvP?

PVP servers on era offer vast expanses to level in efficiently. The only way to level efficiently in SOD is heavily camped tight little areas with 10:1 faction ratios depending what random layer you get called incursions. It’s a completely different dynamic than experienced on other PvP severs. And no one signed up for it. So hopefully they offer transfers off soon. And I only play PVP servers. This is broken.

Weird so the 75% increased experience buff, quests, and dungeons were all removed?
No. The most efficient way to level is to rep at the same time. You can’t do that anywhere else in the game. So the incursions are by far the best and most efficient way to level.
The rune is available at friendly which is just a few turn-ins at 50. Nothing else is detrimental to the game. It sounds like there’s just as many, more now, options for leveling than classic had and they’re all more than efficient since you have a 75% xp gain for all content.
Anyone just coming to SOD should definitely go to a PVE server because you have gangs of lvl 50’s camping any leveling spots except dungeons and raids (and they even camp the entrance to these)
But you have a lot to catch up with. And didn’t they say Phase 4 would be here in summer? Not worth it IMO. That’s why I don’t bother to level alts on a PVE server. Game is terminally boring.
You save a day and a half of activity by leveling in the incursions. There’s no question it is the most efficient way to level.
Except you don’t because you’re spend a lot of that time fighting the other faction and corpse running when you lose. It’s one of the same reasons players opted to level in Dungeons.
You’re better off Dungeon spamming or questing 40 to 50 in the empty zones than doing Incursions on a PVP server. Just do them later.
the choice between pvp or pve makes little difference when there’s hardly anyone in the world to group with for any low level content. They’ve essentially turned SoD into Retail lite wherein nobody groups.
If you missed the broken incursion xp at launch youre sh1t out of luck, even more trying to find dungeon groups for anything.
Or do open world quests like so many others, including myself. You have a 75% xp buff, you don’t have to do incursions…
Are you playing the same game? There’s tons of people in the world to group with.
I just lvled 1-50 on a new server it’s fine. There’s no need for catch up mechanics
And rolled the pve server and had no issues.
Imagine having to level in an mmo. That’s wild

I don’t see why you lie I’m on living flame leveling a priest undead and there’s not a single person with priest buffs to pray over me so I can even unlock the few runes I could get

because ignorant fanboys who did everything at launch have nothing to contribute.
SoD is dead in low levels. Can’t even find 2 people to thaw the frozen makura let alone one person to do the healing rune in durotar.
