1.12 Server & Client

Do you think Blizzard is behind the scenes prepping the Original Vanilla 1.12 client and servers, because they realize this spaghetti monstrosity of bugs is just unsalvageable with the Legion port?

This is the only reason I can think of for the complete radio silence. Maybe I’m naive and they just don’t care?

I would be 100% fine with this. legion back port is garbage - causing too many bugs.

Sorry buddy but that’s not going to happen.

They just don’t care and people (including myself) play it and pay anyways.
I mean that’s what this is all about - money for Activision and their shareholders (I bet you they are going to be very pleased about the last quarter of 2019).

We will get some “breadcrumb fixes” here and there for the worst bugs and that’s it.
A huge portion of gamebreaking bugs and all horrible development decisions will stay.

Because why bother.
People will just get used to it.

The only power we really have here is to unsub, which is exactly what I intend to do once my monthly sub is up. Do it. Screw Blizz.

There is nobody working on classic. Period.

It’s plainly obvious they used a reference client (Private server) and just cobbled it together with their current barebones client (Legion/BFA)
No care or effort to reproduce anything from vanilla and just chuck it out there for the masses.
It’s a shonky mess.

They’d never re-release 1.12 proper. That would take EFFORT.

???

I see absolutely no problem with the current client. Sometimes (actually most of the time) I feel people who complain about the ‘spaghetti monstrosity legion port’ are people who see non-issues and think “This isn’t how classic was 1-1! It MUST be!”

Yeah a level 10 warlock might not have had enough time in the game to notice all the little things that don’t behave like they’re supposed to.

First of all, 1.12 wasn’t bug free. Lets not pretend bugs weren’t an integral part of the vanilla experience.

Secondly, there’s approximately zero chance of blizz going back to the 1.12 client OR the 1.12 server. The client would have compatibility issues with modern PCs, and the server wouldn’t operate within their services.

Agreed they couldn’t just use the old client.

I was hoping they’d at least try a little harder with the port, though.

Tell me about the private server compatibility issues, the ones who use the original 1.12 client on modern PCs to this day. Explain how very small teams of hobbiest seem to have created a much more authentic version of vanilla than a billion dollar company with practically unlimited resources. Tell me all about it.

Private servers do not use blizzards servers or connect with blizzard services.

I sincerely doubt any of them are compatible.

They… didn’t.

That would be AMAZING xbukk

They…

Did lol

Imagine if these classic players just got stock Northdale. People would be losing their minds on how good and “authentic” the game was.

Instead we have this cesspool of a forum

You are telling me a small group of hobbyists can put together a more authentic version of Vanilla than Blizzard, with basically a nickel and dime budget, but Blizzard could not set up a similar separate service with their billions of dollars budget?

The only argument you provide is you saying they can’t, when in reality we have proof of it being done (private servers). Blizzard not wanting to is a completely different argument than not being able to.

Someone must’ve missed the Private Server bus.

Did you play any private servers?

Light’s Hope, Kronos, Nostalrius… all of them had actually nearly every scriptable event scripted, were extremely responsive (more responsive being hosted in Europe than this stupid artificial lag, batching bs–let’s keep archaic technology 15 years outdated just so mages can sometimes polymorph each other btw), and played so much better. Hobbyists scripted and hosted servers capable of handling 12k+ players on, in one single layer, flawlessly, all the while being able to handle world PvP on the scale of hundreds and hundreds v hundreds, where Classic starts becoming a laggy cesspool at ~150… god I have no idea what’s going to happen with some of these servers on 1 layer or at peak stress like during AQ gates opening.

Yes. Hobbyists did that well.

Nope. I’m definitely not saying that.

not sure if trolling or just dumb?

At this rate if they ever release a TBC server i expect it to be a cruddy emulation of the real TBC too.

Who are you?

Oh wait, I don’t care!

Can you believe that WoW:Classic level doesn’t equate to playtime on vanilla WoW?
