Yes. It was that bad. And if what you described is what happened, then you weren’t playing the right comp. RMX is purely based around letting the mage cast, and fire mage is as good as it is because of DB-Poly.

No ability in the game under any circumstance whatsoever should do 35% of someone’s health simply because the mage got it off, which in a good RMX, would happen more than you would think.

Or fire mage & destro Bermuda Triangle where you get to pick if you would prefer to eat greater pyros or chaos bolts.

Fine with me, as long as fire gets adjusted in other ways to have reasonable damage outside of cooldowns and when we get all our buffs purged-spammed away. The biggest allure of gpyro was that it actually did damage and couldn’t be purged or stolen.

Seriously, anybody who hasn’t played fire doesn’t know how devastating it is to get Combustion, Hot Streak, etc wiped away and/or made moot with CC.

Was it really that bad in bfa lately? I havent tried pvping on my mage.

When i did use greater pyro, every single time no matter where i tried to position myself people would swap and focus me. I would only get maybe 2 off before the other team would tackle me.

In most BGs I don’t even have to cast anything, just standing within eyeshot of the enemy team with Blazing Barrier up is all it takes for all their melee to jump me and focus me down. On a good day I might actually get off 30% of attempted gpyro’s, if that many.

I’m sure gpyro sucked in 2s arenas, but arenas always have been and always will be the ultimate cheeseball form of PvP in this game – WoW was designed for larger form PvP and despite the efforts of the devs largely still is. There will never be a version of WoW in which arenas aren’t tilted toward one set of specs or another, it’s a simple function of the dinky team sizes.

Which is why imo their balance should focus on 5v5 or 10v10, but they’ve neglected PvP so much for so long its hard to get enthusiasm for content of that size going, from the player side at least.

If you’re letting fire mages free cast greater pyros, that’s a you problem. Maybe think about putting Rebuke on your action bar?

oh this remind me of warhammer online ; the fire mages were so “hot” that if they went too hard they would hurt themselves, a lot.

they could leave it as it is on live but attach a penalty to using it too much.

I don’t PvP. Not an expert. But I did watch a fire mage doing arena’s and basically they just stood there and spammed Greater Pyro/Fireblast and CC’s, only really moving to secure kills with Scorch/Fireblast and normal Pyro procs.

Seemed a bit degenerate.

Compared to how fun fire pvp was in MoP, its kinda sad to see

It’s not helping Clark. Trying to spin people up over silly things. It’s also an alpha build and more changes are bound to happen.

Dude, watch some high level gameplay right now, everyone is running MLx, GPy and Chaos Bolt being spammable is toxic as hell. Puts the enemy in a position where one slip up means someone on their team dies instantly while MLx gets to play the safest comp possible due to the sheer amount of defensives the comp has and the ability to instantly punish aggressive plays of the other team.

That’s the whole point of MLx. If you train the mage, Lock is free casting Chaos bolt into you, if you shut down the Lock, Mage is freecasting GPys into you.
