Each expansion is different than the previous, with the last three (WoD, Legion, and BfA) almost taking on the role of being a paradigm shift from the previous.
Now the expansions are well done when it comes to workmanship. The visuals are good, very few bugs are visible, etc. The complaints seem to center around features, like tasks, abilities, processes, etc. What you’re seeing here is a discovery mode in game development. Part of developing new expansions is a trial of a new way of doing things to see what piques the interest or kindles the ire of the masses.
Instead of adopting the “this game sucks!” attitude, try adopting one of “well, that didn’t work out so well, did it? Maybe they’ll get it right next expansion.”
You should feel fortunate that you are part of experimentation that is shaping the future of game development.
Excuse me? I should feel fortunate that a game was clearly not tested properly, that the system in which the entire game was shaped was a failure, and not ready for launch (as was evident by the major class changes that came out a week before the expansion launched), and that PvP has been neglected throughout this entire expansion?
You and I have a very different view of “feeling fortunate”. Just because something is crap, and becomes slightly less crap, doesn’t mean we should be thankful and say: “Thank you sir, may I have another?”
The problem is BfA is full of “one step forward, two steps back” compared to Legion.
It’s like they took all the lessons they should have learned from Legion and dumped them in the trash.
And that’s before getting into the story that looks like it was written by a dozen different people and them jammed together with almost no attempt at connecting things together.
That’s cool, then Blizz should only be charging for the good expansions instead of the ones that “shape future game development”.
well, BFA got 10000% better when Vulpera got added.
oh and Corruptions are fun.
Visions when done solo are like Mage tower levels of fun without the same stress of having to be perfect.
Managing Alts and 10 billion different things need to make them relevant is still a pain… but at least there is an alternate grind for essence now… so maybe it will be some what better?
I like the neck abilities and corruptions and gear perks. any one system would lead to a cookie cutter build and everyone would have to use that to be viable but even among the same tier of classes there are vastly different builds. even stat weights shift around based on some builds. the game actually feels like players have some level of choice in how to play their character. (granted the grind is real and certainly drags many of the perks of BFA down.)
so aside from that Legion was better but BFA isn’t WoD levels of meh. BFA imo now is a decent expansion that had a few bumps along the way. and the clown Festa of op stuff we all wanted at the end of Legion. (eg putting on every leggo etc.)
so get in to BFA, forget about all the annoyances and just have some fun before we head into shadowlands and loose over half our level and most of our character power.
