“I didn’t get full mythic geared (in the first week the raid / M+ was out) from doing solo world content. Pls fix blizz”
I have to disagree with you on this. RNG does not make a MMO. People playing make an MMO.
I have to disagree with this as well. Many games use a currency/vendor system. It all comes down to time-gating. The developers could easily make it so that you can only purchase one piece per week. Other games have done this very successfully. A vault doesn’t need to be involved.
You are not removing longevity. What you are removing is customer dissatisfaction, disappointment and frustration. When people do weekly content and don’t get anything, and then log in on Tuesday only to find garbage, it doesn’t inspire them to continue the grind.
You do realize that adding a currency that you ‘grind’ is grinding right? Killing two bosses and getting something from a vault is not.
Also, there are 13 slots to upgrade. Providing one piece of gear per week is 13 weeks or 3 months. How is that for longevity?
Your math is off, this only works if EVERY OTHER GEARING OPTION HAS CONSISTANTLY FAILED YOU FOR 3 STRAIGHT MONTHS.
Statistically impossible.
yes, RNG disappoints alot of people thats the whole purpose of RNG.
I’m sure if you wouldve gotten something useful from the vault (because of luck) you woulnd’t be complaining, better luck next week?
No other MMO has a vendor/currency for BiS current tier gear.
It’s actually RNG.
Every MMO on the market has RNG on RNG on RNG.
MMO = people
RPG = gearing through RNG methods, every single game follows this logic.
There is nothing wrong with my math. 13 weeks is about 3 months. I said nothing about the fact that some people will get some gear out of the raid, as I am sure they may. However, if they don’t, this is where they can get gear with proper stats on them.
But I get it. You like the vault. I don’t. I would much rather my time in game be spent productively knowing that I can get one piece of gear I can use each week, vs. some RNG vendor that draws from a really strange loot table.
I do find it amusing that for at least 3 xpacs people complained about the gear vendors going away… I guess most of those people moved on to other games, which is probably why DF sales are so low.
???
It draws the loot from the content you did for it.
For example, if you did 5 dungeons, your vault reward will be loot from one of those 5 dungeons, it wont give you loot from a boss you haven’t downed that week.
It’s not totally random or strange at all.
The issue with the gear vendors (this LITERALLY HAPPENED IN BC)
is that you’re then forced to either run these dungeons ALL THE TIME because the currency needed is going to be absurd, IE s4 SL took 3 weeks of raids clears to buy an item from the vendor.
Which is exactly whats happening now anyways, people feel like they’re forced to continuously run dungeons.
Being BiS geared in 3 months via a protection system has never or ever will be a thing.
This is wishful thinking at BEST.
Source?
Doing a 15+ key even if it’s a carry and waiting for the vault is the only way to get gear as it’s always has been since M+ came out for an average player… and yes an average player can complete a 15+ even if it’s not timed, doesn’t matter to the vault if it’s timed or not.
If we had more reputation grinds for 390-400 ilvl gear like with the obsidian citadel which gave some beefy pieces early on and same for cobalt assembly… We need more like that for ALL slots in many different places…
As for crafted gear… Yea good luck, unless they raise the limit on how many you can wear then that is a no go… So combined with the rep grinds we got early and the 2 slots by week 2 for crafted we can achieve 376 roughly to 381 after mythic 0’s…
Personally, gearing isn’t fun in WoW anymore. I remember back in wrath if you got a piece that had beefy stats you FELT it… Now? You just rely on set effects and weird added effects on certain pieces to “FEEL” the change… Or trinkets as usual.
If we find some type of middle ground for horizontal progression like guild wars 2 does and some type of vertical then it’ll explode in popularity. I’m sure people are tired spending weeks trying to get a piece and when they finally get it either their class/spec gets dumpster nerfed or the expansion/season ends… Argue MMORPG all you want with gear changing with new expansions but doesn’t mean it has to stay that way.
I almost thought Legion was gonna change that with artifact weapons. Imagine all slots function like Artifacts did. Endless progression through gear trees and no need to grind for specific pieces that refuse to drop anymore, you just grind for points and slowly become a god lol
Legion was fun im sorry xD
You can get primal storm gear. Just follow the group around and stack up w/e the currency is, do the quests to upgrade to 385. You can probably get full 385 gear in like 3-4 months.
Can confirm, after weeks of struggling to get nothing dropped only to get screwed again by the vault I just say screw it and play something else that respects my time.
To be honest that’s blizzard’s problem with all of their games, at least when it comes to diablo none of the luck involved requires other players to succeed. But damn near everything else they make either has no vertical progression or intentionally wastes your time with no intrinsic reward loop.
I don’t like playing FFXIV but at least it has the reward problem mostly solved, tomestones to get catch up gear and pity tokens from relevant content that rewards gear that’s up to scale with what you were running if you’re that unlucky over a period of weeks.
Okay I’ll spend ten hours in nazjatar waiting for gear from razagoof
I’m glad Blizzard is moving away from letting you people gatekeep with such nonsense. I’m just advocating they pick up the pace a bit. Your silly opinion is noted tho.
The ego of some “casual” players to think they are the only ones to have a life outside of WoW is hilarious.
I know not all casual players are like this.
Dungeons smungeons. Too random for my liking. I’m a largely solo player. I haven’t done any group stuff above a few heroic dungeons. My shaman is currently ilvl 381. That’s perfectly fine for my soloing needs.
? You can get 385 from literally just world quests. There is almost always a Titan Matrix IV on the map as a world quest reward in the cycle with other drops scaling into the 370s. The weekly events also scale ridiculously high (my monk got 402 shoulders from Aiding the Accord last week).
That is approaching normal raid IL doing literally 0 group content.
I really hope you meant 370 here, and even then that’s really not that high at all. I barely play and my mage is sitting on 388.
You get guaranteed gear from the pvp vendors. I literally just zug in solo shuffle and cap conquest.
It’s not up to scale, it’s literally the drop. If your static gets shafted on ring coffers like mine did both tiers so far, you know you’ll get the ring on the 4th kill because of the books. It’s not an equivalent ring, it’s the actual ring itself. If you clear the final boss 8 times, you’re guaranteed your choice of chestpiece, weapon, or mount with those books also. Though the idea is if you clear it with the same 8 players each week, you all will have these things so they serve to power up an alt job since most people pick something meta for progression then later gravitate to what they want to play once DPS checks are no longer a huge threat.
You do know you can use as many crafted pieces as you have available, the only restriction is you can only have 2 embellished pieces (pieces with additional procs like Elemental Lariat). Yes, the number of sparks available is time-gating that but eventually you could have full crafted gear.
If you’re not raiding, then what is the need for high item level?
I’ve done three mythics (a 0 and 2 +2’s) I still haven’t ran some of the new dungeons on normal, haven’t done the raid, I’ve only been doing the world quests and I’m 378, I know I’m not breaking any ilvl records or anything but I feel like for the amount of time I’ve put in, which is not a lot as I have a full time job and can only play an hour or two a day, the time/reward factor is fine…
Edit: None of my gear came from the Mythics, nothing dropped for me.
