Pvp level cap is negative for blizz and players

I used to play this game everyday. Did all challenges except Onyxia and achieved most heroics also. All my minis are uncommon and 90%+ have 1 ability. I bought a couple of things, sure, but im probably not considered a big spender. All this considered, I am a great fan of the game.
All this took a hard stop when I reached 3k with some heroes and realized what the hard 3k rating cap meant.

There are many positive and incredible design feats in this game, but right now, I will stick to the problem.
By no means am I not recommending this game or am I writing to cry about it. I am sharing a design problem I noticed, that could be fixed for a stronger community.

While the game might focus more on pve, it is undeniable that pvp is a major aspect for many players and an end game.
Right now, when you reach 3k rating on 3 champions, you get platinum rank 1 - it is one rank away from getting the pvp reward of the season. It is also when there is no level cap for minis and you either have them maxed or you will lose.
1 level difference on 1 mini alone has tremendous weight. Suffice to say, there are abilities and champions based on gaining levels.
But the season reward is minor and losing is part of the game. Queues are fast (this aint no solo shuffle).
However, the problem lies in the design forcing a completely different gameplay and changing expectations.
Up to this point, I focused on leveling different minis and having many options. It also added to my account level, so my rewards would be greater. Suddenly, I regret not having focused xp on a few minis that I use the most and I realize that upgrading mini’s rarity is less important than having them leveled.
How else can resume the fun I was having pvping?
Right now, as I have seen others state, it is better to keep pvping with other champions up to 3k. I have also seen ā€˜tips’ of losing to decrease rating… Imo, both options are terrible.

I understand the design choice to remove cap for higher pvp. It probably does generate revenues with some players rushing for their wallets to max out their mini’s levels. This is great, we dont want this game to end.
It is the way this system is implemented that makes little sense for blizz and for us, players.
Cap could be slowly increased per rating. This would establish easier short-term goals and convert the feeling of ā€œCan’t play until I am maxedā€ to ā€œIf I only had 1 more levelā€¦ā€.
Having to increase 1 or 2 levels of a few minis so I can compete on the current rating, is a lot more palatable. Whales would still max out, since there would be no reason not to, but average players - such as myself - would spend enough to guarantee competitiveness on their rating.
This system would also be less discouraging for those starting out. Instead of new pvpers seeing the hard cap and thinking, ā€œwhy botherā€¦ā€ they might give it a try, believing they will eventually have the necessary mini level when they reach platinum +.

Exactly what i feel.
Leveling minis are a slow grind for us f2p player, it takes time but eventually we get there.

They just need to make a 4K cap at level 7.

It’ll solve a ton of issues

  1. Lower level players facing whales.

The fact that you have people with level 5-6 minis in the same bracket as 10s is a huge problem.

  1. It’ll give space and time for those players that are t whales to level up without being roflstomped. They can get minis up to 8 and 9 while still being competitive in the 4K lv 7 bracket.

  2. The queue times will be better for mid range players.

Honestly, this is the big one.

Once past 3K the queue times go from instant to minutes. And when you do get a queue, it’s often a lv10 player crushing your lb 7 3K team.

There just needs to be more space in the ladder.

The irony is Blizz has already created that space. And the obvious next step. 4K lv 7. But for some reason haven’t added it.

P.S. the increased queue times right as the game is getting good is a real downer. This is where most people are quitting. And it’s why there’s increased queue times.

EZ fix is just to make the 4K lv7 bracket.

I just hit the 3k cap with my top 3 champs to realize the same absurdity and came here to vent about it.

I don’t get it - in Clash Royale when levels weren’t capped and you were low level it wouldn’t matter all THAT much, it did still a little, but you could definitely still progress and have fun for the most part. The difference was you knew people you were facing were at the same MMR, so they were achieving about as much success but required high level units to do it, so they were bad in other ways and you could capitalize on this.

In this game though, as soon as I touch an opponent over 3k they have level 8+9 minis to my 5s. I can barely scratch anything, let alone think about putting up a fight. My demon banshee archer hero died to ONE hit from a 2-cost griffon, seriously…

I don’t get why I’m not facing people that are also just over 3k and a similar thing would start to happen as I described in clash royale above. Something is screwed up not just in the design of this system but in the matchmaking here.

I really enjoyed this game, I played clash royale for years and nothing on mobile could come close until this, and I consider this better in almost every way that really matters, and now this. Dead end. I considered going through the levelling process, but holy crap, I need to level at least 7 minis from ~15 to ~27 to have a shot. This will either cost billions of dollars or take most of my life in mindless farming against the AI. I guess I’ll look to finish the campaign, but I’m pissed, PVP is dead for me now. How stupid? I would request a refund on the purchases I have made if I thought I had a shot at getting the money back, which is probably about $50-$70 at this point, which is not insignificant, that’s a full triple A title price, and now I can’t even participate in the feature which forms the primary basis of the game? What an absolute load of crap. Fix your stupid system Blizzard. Don’t ruin another potentially great game like you did WC3 and Diablo, please. There’s plenty ways to do it which a child could come up with so I’m not going to bother writing any.

I brought all the bosses to 3k, except Baron who sails at around 2850.
Aside from having played without bonuses due to the countless victories in pvp (for example 5 gold per victory), nowadays I’m stuck playing even in pve.
Only Onixya is missing from the standard campaign, while in the heroic one I can’t get past a certain level.
I spent €50 on this title, and as has already been said that’s a price for a finished game.

It’s time to change something Blizzard!!!

Wow… so much nicer than me… the PVP, until the gold rush, has been boring at best and just plain stupid when it comes to match choices. What is the point of matching with impossible odds? You really think it’s okay my lvl 4 pvp mini should fight lvl 7 pvp mini? So a 12 vs 21 when they all have special abilities and only my leader does? It’s undeniably moronic and should be completely revamped. I end up not playing pvp for weeks then only till it happens again… There they are, all mini 3 pvp level higher and throwing flame across the board… I just drop the game and come here to state the obvious again. Too stupid to fix it.
