The AI does not seem to adhere to a troop type limit, nor to a cooldown between troop deployments. Conversely, players only have 6 troops, a leader, and a kobold. Players are only allowed to cast the same unit after they have cycled through their lineup, the AI does not appear to be limited by this.
When I am doing the dungeons, or heroics, certain actions cause the AI to react. If I drop a kobold, the AI tends to drop a SAFE pilot on it. If I drop a ranged troop near my base, to defend, the AI tends to drop a SAFE pilot on it. If I drop a miner, at a gold/chest, the AI tends to drop a SAFE pilot on it. On occasion, the AI will drop a SAFE pilot on my base.
If these things happen in rapid succession, the AI drops SAFE pilots on everything, sometimes overlapping pilot circles.
If the AI drops a pilot on my base, I respond with a ranged, it drops a pilot on my ranged, if I drop a kobold, it drops a third pilot. I’ve even seen the AI spam cast the pilot, dropping 3 pilots on my General Drak unit.
Alternatively, the AI responds similarly with Blizzard. I have seen several times where it drops 2 or more blizzards on my troops, overlapping effect areas.
Finally, the towers:
I deploy an earth elemental, the last microsecond before the tower falls, it summons a unit. The unit doesn’t target the elemental, it lets the elemental wander off, but will immediately start attacking the newly capped tower. If the unit was deployed before the tower fell, it should be attacking the elemental. If I attempt to summon a unit at the last moment, it will send the troop back into my hand. If I do earlier, it attacks the attacker.
