Y’all knew you weren’t supposed to abuse that. They sell gold for money so why would they purposely let you farm unlimited amounts? If you used a shred of common sense you wouldn’t have done it. Quit
Negative 1040 gold today. Happy holidays. Blizzard sucks. You guys released a broken update. It was barely an exploit to keep running the arclight missions for a day. I might understand the desire to keep a level playing field, but why should I play anymore if you release buggy software then punish your release testers?
Look. All of Blizzard’s failings aside, let’s look just at this bug in particular:
1 - you log in to do your surge and it doesn’t award gold… “hmm, that was weird”, so you try again.
2 - it continued to not award gold, but then when you re-log, you notice you got your gold and the quest was still available! “Hmm, that’s odd…”
3 - you do a few more, and start raking in the gold. This is where most of us stopped, after about 400-600 gold, you had a choice: continue “farming” an-incredibly-boring-quest over and over which at this point, you realize it’s bugged… WHO DOES OVER A HUNDRED SURGES FOR FUN???
Sorry not feeling sad for people with over 2000 negative balances! You got a loan and still got to keep everything you bought with that gold, so you really didn’t lose anything!
the quests for 2 digit xp have a total cap of 300 and you get 20 quests per day… so who does that for fun???
the point isnt that ppl have negative balances, at least not my point (already said in post 4 that its a fair solution).
my point is they found out a way to balance it and still threaten the players with more punishment, as if its their kingdom and we have no rights as costumers.
manipulation isnt a nice behaviour aswell, still the gaming industry pushes the boundries to the limit.
the relationship between big/aaa studios and their customers is hostile for some time now, and its their choice to handle customers this way!
so dont try to paint a black and white picture here.
they want our money, not us! just be quiet and pay, no matter what you get in return!
Yea, I agree with you. They could have handled it better, and criminalizing players is not right. And this game in particular is a huge cash grab, so i get it that this bug hurt their bottom line and will continue to do so if all these players with negative balances do quit for good; they were probably regulars, which the game desperately needs. I work in development in a separate industry and it’s obvious blizzard’s QA and devs really dropped the ball on this one.
I have no idea if the gold they took from my account was due to the bug. I also bought gold during this time, completed several maps and arclight surges. Now i went from 1200 gold to negative 2300. You dont do this to people when real money is on the line without providing a receipt!
Edit: Replyto @cruxe
Incorrect. Blizzard sells gold if you give them real money, sure. They also give gold if you complete tasks, no real world money needed. They do not let you convert gold into real money. So how is this an “exploit” that “y’all knew you weren’t suppose to abuse that”.
Interesting how Blizzard can fix this bug, but still can’t fix the bug that prevented me from receiving the purchases I made in Hearthstone weeks ago, and insists on telling me to ask the app store for a refund, despite already having done so (they won’t).
Once again, Blizzard shows its very clean policy towards players with a very clear guideline : money before players.
Happened in the past, will happen in the future again.
Like @SpyderDrksdr, I think the way have handled it is pretty bad and it is probably the result of a decision made by someone who doesn’t understand how a gaming community works.
It’s time for me to let it go once and for all, I have been playing Blizzard games for 30 years, I’m just tired now. I think the game won’t last anyway.
My christmas gift for Blizzard is to delete the game and rate it 1 star on the store.
Lick blizzard’s boot much? Lol
I don’t understand what this gold adjustment is supposed to reflect. I did do some extra surge levels that day. Nine, I think, so that would be 540 extra gold. But I log in on Christmas and I’m at negative 6k. That’s a huge amount of gold and way way more than I got during the glitch. I can only assume it’s an error and will be corrected, unless there’s some kind of punitive multiplier. What a stupid solution.
Im not on minus. I did not have time for playing it more. But i would if i could. My only thought was it is some kind of Christmass gift? You had to play it over and over so it wasn’t obvious Bug when after one play You got rich and do some combinations to exploit it. Just normal casual things. You lead me to think evertime i play it if i do something wrong? Dungeon after dungeon? Maybe they tell me tomorrow that it wasn’t allowed to do. Or if i get those things to reset the shop and i do it one after another will it be illegal? And how many i should have them? Maybe i have more then i should? And how do I supose to know i got too much? I dont check it. Its not my job to do that. I just want to play. And they don’t let me do that. Instead they put penalties for playing.
Yeah I have bought some packs end the arclight boost as well. Now I have -4000 gold. I did get it by playing the released game, but the pubishment is somewhat severe imho. I deleted the game and am quite done with it. You all should too. That way you can punish them back.
Exactly!! I like your idea It’s time to gift them back!
I just rated their app 1 star in Google Play store, commented how bad it was handled. Liked all the 1 or 2 star ratings.
A friend told me about that bug. You know what I’ve done? Avoid playing that day since it was clearly an exploit. My balance is unaffected as a result. I find it interesting how ppl state they have been playing blizz games for years yet don’t know how to spot an exploit.
Someone somewhere should be down right ashamed. This is the most pathetic game launch Ive seen in a long time and I fell for the Cyberpunk hype. Warcraft Rumble has produced no joy for me yet.
I’ve used the arclight bug to earn a lot of gold. But i’ve also spend some money in this game and i am very active player. It wasnt my false, that that bug was in the game. I havent beat some people in PvP beacuse of this advantage, only bought some stars and talents for units.
I have enjoying the game last two months, even with the game long loading, crashes etc.
But if Blizzard want to lost the most active players, like me, than give them negativ gold 10000 is best way to do so.
Merry christmass
This doesn’t make much sense from a business standpoint either. I highly doubt anyone with a negative gold balance is going to spend more RL money to correct the negative. Most likely they will 1 star the app, delete it and ask google or apple for a refund.
Good riddance. It was clearly an exploit
ive lost gold at the release of the game when u were allowed to play different game versions on different devices , and blizz wrote me , just sorry . Now i thought it would be nice compensation according to those fact that im active player with own guild and in game real money buyer . But after this … already succed in asking for refund , 1 star in app store with review . gl hf
