Like a year ago I tried playing this game and got a soft lock decided it had been long enough and tried again and got the SAME soft lock. The gnome girl tells me about upgrading minis after telling me to click a button to upgrade which does nothing l, then it opens a menu to select a stage in Elwyn forest and I just can’t click anything. Closing and reopening the game results in her telling me about upgrading minis again only for the mission screen to immediately pop up and soft lock me again.
Did you change devices in the between time?
Are you sure you are logged in on battle.net?
Or maybe whever you played before wasn’t linked?
If old device (if still have), is around, i’d log in and check to see if it is,
if no, - then link that device to battle net id ->>
then log in new device and also link to same battle net account from old device.
if sounds like you are describing being forced to ‘restart’ and play a fresh account.
lmk if i am wrong or doesn’t work
This is a very common experience associated with high server volume. It’s because the game revolves around using the grid to do everything, and every type of transaction utilizes the same infrastructure, even if there is no money involved.
NOTE: It doesn't display an error message on screen unless there are multiple instances of the same issue occurring over a short period of time. Usually what happens is you partially lose some of your gold / minis, it caps your progress or gold temporarily, regardless of how much gold you really have, or sometimes virtual items or currency that you lost, are partially recovered during the weekly reset:
Commerce Purchase Error
Unable to complete transaction.
In the following screenshot, there is 1600 in-game currency ( gold in this instance, ) in the top right corner, while the experience tome in the lower right corner costs 500 gold, and is unavailable to purchase due to an internal server error associated with high volume:

NOTE: This did not involve any real world currency, and no actual money was lost throughout the entire process.
Dungeon Reward Claim Failed
Something went wrong when
claiming the dungeon reward.
In the following screenshot, a dungeon was completed, deadmines in this instance, and none of the rewards were granted, at least initially, gold, experience, or otherwise. Don't laugh, but I didn't log in to check to see if anything was partially recovered during the weekly reset / maintenance period:

NOTE: Again, no money was involved, nothing why any sort of physicality was lost, and I did not pay for anything in the store throughout this whole process.
