Zerg design decision

Dont take it as a rant or something. Its just something to think about.

Its just small thing, mainly for map makers, otherwise there is hydralisk only as an easter egg during the campaign and thats all.

But how did they come up with the models? You have already existing models from SC1, SC2 and WC3. So what is happening there?

Is the design team not allowed to use rights on the real stuff ? Are the people out of touch with game they are working on?

I would accept that hydralisk, if it is mid frame where it shoots, it has these weird flaps on side of its head in warcraft too, but if its neutral pose then I dont understand how did this happen.

And the zerg looks like someone trying to create kangaroo and slapping zerg texture on it in last minute. Its like someone trying to draw zerg from memory.

I am just trying to figure out how this happened, most of the models are fine, even female DK is still recognizable as a DK but these two models are total miss.

Those Hydralisk flaps look like Dumbo ears.

It just looks so goofy lol, but the lings look good.

There are videos online of the Hydralisk in action.

That is indeed mid-shooting animation pose.

also regarding zergling

It looks exactly like the Starcraft Remastered Zergling. Keep in mind, Lemonsky, the company who is doing the art, worked on Starcraft Remastered.

the design is based off of starcraft 1

It’s not animated properly and completely yet, most likely. Right now Dagren the Orcslayer just slides around in-game, chain-swinging his not-Ashbringer. Doesn’t surprise me the Hydralisk is stuck in an attack frame.

That’s actually the best depiction of the Starcraft/Starcraft: Brood War Zergling I’ve seen outside of Starcraft: Remastered itself. Of the three races I really think Zerg suffered the most in Starcraft 2’s art direction.

Hey :raising_hand_man:
I checked this in the editor… the Hydralisk is permanetly stucked in the attack animation. Normaly the wing/ears/pods should be closed. I think they will fix this.
