Was going to pick this up on release but I see that it’s nonstop complaining online. Most of the negative aspects of the game seem to be related to multiplayer, is this worth picking up if I’m only interested in the campaign? Anything that I should wait to get patched?
Yes, the campaign is fine and worth a playthrough. It’s the online features that are missing, but they will be added with updates.
The campaign is, I don’t know, fine? If you have never played it and the game doesn’t suffer from performance issues it’s the exact same one from WC 3 with slightly altered maps sometimes.
That being said I do find many of the cutscenes look atrocious with janky animations and the lip-syncing of the portraits also looks “eh”.
Funny enough, it frequently looked like the actors in the cutscenes were having a better time lip syncing than the portraits. Got a laugh out of me.
Some people have reported campaign bugs. Also you can do this instead: OMG! I can go back to Classic TFT now. Everyone Come read! :D :) - #133 by Mjolnir-11962
depends. It is exactly the same as the original WC3 campagin. I was shocked when I started playing it and noticed the voice overs and the in game cut scenes weren’t updated.
I specifically bought the game because Blizzard said they would do these things.
I am hoping they will updated it to make it the product they advertised. Until they do I would say do not buy it yet.
If you enjoyed the campaign as it was, and like things like the World Builder and custom games (not custom campaigns 'cause at this time they’re non existent) it’s worth it. The only major downside is no longer being able to save custom games against the AI (because it runs through the same system as multiplayer custom games). But if you’re ok with those changes, (and lack of changes), you’ll have fun. I’m having a great time with it. The thing to remember is the Devs will be patching it (they did the same process with Diablo 3 and even the original Warcraft 3) so we can expect issues to get fixed and features to be added over time. I think they were undermanned and against the clock and unfortunately like most games now, it was released in what really was a beta stage when it should have had 6-8 more months development. But all that said, I’m having a blast with single player as that’s the main way I played WC3 anyway.
They reverted everything due to blizzcon backslash.
except they are still advertsing the game with the 4 hours of new revamped cutscenes. See the issue?
Here’s the thing…
If you only want this game to replay Warcraft III with updated graphics… it’s a perfectly cromulent game. I was never all that into PVP modes (I dabbled in custom games, but not hugely into them)… Campaign is basically the gist of what I wanted, so I don’t regret preordering, nor have I refunded.
Had Blizzard kept the scope of this game small, presented it as a simple graphical update, and kept people’s expectations reasonable… I don’t think they’d have half the fire they have on their hands right now.
The problem is, they gave the community the rope the community is using to hang them now. They announced a much loftier, more expansive, better-sounding product than they released. And they deserve every bit of bile thrown at them as a result.
It wasn’t the community setting its own expectations too high, this was blizzard setting the community’s expectations high, and not delivering.
But yes, if you only want a basic graphic update, it’s decent enough. I’m enjoying playing the campaign again.
Literally no difference to the classic version, so no. Demanded refund today.
that’s what i’m talking about.
Just for the Single Player? Yes if you’ve never played. I honestly would wait for a sale or patches. If you decide to get it. I recommend playing with classic graphics first.
Yes it’s worth it for SP for sure especially if you never played it before. If you have like myself I still found it worth it for the upgraded graphics and small changes like upscaled cutscenes.
I guess you are playing it in english? Every other language got new voices but the people hate it because you can not choose the original voices instead and because the original names get translated.
I’d say no. The price isn’t worth it for just the singleplayer.
It would have been if Blizzard had delivered but they didn’t.
Play the original with a graphics mod like Warcraft Resurrection.
Regular warcraft 3 will be free soon just like starcraft was. Original looks better than the remake. Just wait until its free save yourself 30-40 dollars.
Worth it, epic classic game! the online part will need a few months before it’ll be fixed properly. Sad to see so many people complaining, it’s a very old engine they had to work in, every previous patch also broke custom games. They’ll fix things in time. I’m just really glad they’ve remastered my all time favourite game, and I hope they’ll keep the updates coming. The campaign plays really nice for me so far (not all the way through yet on reforged) and the amount of custom games players have made is impressive.
There are quite a few bugs, most of them minor or fixed by restarting the game.
The campaign is…decent. Quite a few nice little additions.
The map editor is apparently rather busted right now, but I would expect that to be fixed.
Custom campaigns are completely removed.
I’d probably say…no. Not at this price, unless you’ve never played the campaigns before. Aside from a few minor changes, you are basically buying a texture upgrade.
Source please! That is interesting to hear.
