World Editor HIGH GPU Usage

Using the terrain editor causes 60-70% GPU usage. I can hear the coil whine and fans ramp way up. This even happens when I’m just loading up the editor to the default blank starting map.
As soon as you click into any of the menus or other modules, the GPU usage goes back to 0. Essentially as long as the terrain editor isn’t in the active foreground, it goes to normal GPU usage.
I couldn’t find any info on this anywhere. I only saw one thread that vaguely referenced it.

Important Specs:
AMD Ryzen 7 3700x, 16GB Ram
Nvidia 1070ti 8GB Ram - Driver 442.19
Windows 10, build 18362

I think in general they screwed up this game, tons of GBs on hard drive, lagging gameplay, very very heavy game for the pc in terms of gpu usage.

I ask why ?? it is a simple game, which in classic was very stable and gentle for the pc, and now it is like to run new Call of Duty 5x

Not to mention main menu, google chrome which works like on Atari.
28 GBs come on, i honestly still can`t believe they made such poor pathetic product, the worst in this is, that they disabled classic/frozen throne, forcing others there into this madness.

Does this happen when WorldEditor is running in SD mode? Or only HD mode? Or both?

This kind of is expected for HD mode. HD mode is very GPU demanding. Especially if outputting to a high frame rate display.

This is to be expected when running in Reforged mode and is basically giving people what they paid for.

In classic mode the GPU load is pretty small. Even my GTX 760 (old GPU) only gets loaded to 70% when running Warcraft III at 280-400 FPS. Since I can frame limit it to 60 FPS usually it is running well below 25% utilization.

Chrome is one of the most performant browsers currently available. I suspect most of the performance complaints people have with the main menu are related to something else.

Classic graphics can still be used by anyone who owns a Warcraft III Reign of Chaos CD key.

It’s less intensive in SD mode, @ about 30%. Still, it just seems odd that the editor and game uses the same or more GPU than even Gears 4 or 5 on ultra modes @ 144Hz/1440p. They use the unreal engine so I’m guessing whatever engine WCIII is using is much less efficient. I’ve never seen a game I’ve owned with the 1070ti use 90%+ consistently like it does in WCIII reforged.
Diablo 3 and SC2 use far less and I would consider those graphics much better and more detailed.
Just a bit disappointing is all. I can’t recall how the original WCIII was on resources, it’s been so long.

Not graphics i meant, they disabled the games, after they disabled battle net button on mentioned games, they forced people to move to reforged game, not matter whether you click to play classic graphics or reforged, you will still be using a broken multiplayer game, match found bug, desyncs etc.
I suppose a lot of people would be still playin on old battle net if they wouldnt have disabled it, why ?? because it was a perfect working system.

Forcing people to switch for money, into bugged environment is bad.

Most of those problems will be fixed eventually.

One does not have to pay extra money. One can still play versions 1.32 and later using a RoC CD key.
