Will maps and mods be compatible in version 2.0 of the game?

Will maps and mods be compatible with version 2.0 of the game?

With what happened to Mac users, who have problems with the game, to the point that they are upset because they have downloaded 30gb of the game, only to have their files deleted or not being able to connect and log in. Will these problems also extend to those who have Windows?

I ask because for that very reason, the development of a new update for the game has been leaked, as if it were a new expansion, as it was with Starcraft 2 Wings Of Liberty, or Hearth of the Swarm or with Legacy of the Void or with Nova Covert Ops or with the return of the game Free to Play in 5.0,
Will this huge update patch for Warcraft III: Reforged allow maps created on the pages of “Epicwar .com” or in “Hive workshop . com” to continue being playable or will they have to be changed or will they simply not be playable anymore?

I also know that with the addition of the Microsoft team to the Activision-Blizzard-King system, just as they have updated old games such as Bethesda and its Doom 1 by adding a custom game system, an “Arcade” like with Starcraft 2, or the Creation Club modification system of Skyrim or Fallout 4.

More with the release of the video game Age of Mythology Retold, which is practically a well-made Warcraft 3 Reforged, and the suspension of services for the Age of Empires 3 Complete Collection for multiplayer mode and its replacement by the Definitive Edition.
It is a great content patch 2.0 to add to the Xbox Game Pass, why is it not allowed to enter the Public Test Realm (PTR) but only the developers have access to it?

Warcraft 3 Reforged has a problem with the main menu working with Google Chrome. Are they reworking it? Or are they doing something similar like they did with Heroes of the Storm that uses the Starcraft 2 engine? That is, are they adapting Warcraft 3 to the Starcraft 2 engine? If so, will it allow maps created for the old version of Warcraft 3, before 2.0, to continue being played or will they be incompatible?

Right now the single player and multiplayer systems are separate, in terms of normal games, as well as custom games.

That is, in the single player option, you enter campaign, or custom campaign or custom game.

Then in another tab of the main menu, enter multiplayer and go to normal games, that is, versus, but the tournament part is not in the same slot as with Starcraft 2
And then in the main menu you have Custom Games to enter the games made by the community maps.

And another slot to play in a local area but that requires Bonjour services
With this new update, are they modifying the main menu of the Warcraft 3 game and making it more similar to Starcraft 2, where it is more organized and practical? Where multiplayer includes normal games and tournaments, and then the arcade to play custom maps or other types of games and custom campaigns?.

This leads me to also talk about how in Starcraft 2, maps cannot be modified in the editor, in Warcraft 3 they can, in Starcraft even if you download the map in the Arcade or in a custom campaign you cannot modify it in the editor itself, but in the editor itself you must log in and search for the map yourself if it is published and if it allows you to modify it.
Is this another way to reinforce the authorship of the rights of maps and modifications as well as creations made with the game engine by BLizzard? This same problem was the one that occurred at the beginning of the game’s launch, regarding a total authorship of them by Blizzard.

I also know that Blizzard has developed strategy games as well as Microsoft, so it is not strange that both companies combine their knowledge to fortify their products and services, facing the development of future games, be they Warcraft IV, Starcraft III, Age of Empires V or Rise of Nations 2 or Age of Mythology 2, or whatever future game is planned.
But I repeat and ask again, how will this update end up affecting the development of the community? Because I am worried about them, seriously:

For example:

Lord of the Clans - HD ( Warcraft Lord of the Clans - Launch Trailer)

Warcraft 3 Re-Reforged: Path of the Damned Act I - Release Trailer

Warcraft: Chronicles of the Second War - Launch Trailer

Age of Warcraft - Demo Release Trailer

I know that Microsoft has developed paid campaigns in Age of Empires and Age of Mythology as well as the addition of cosmetics such as microtransactions, be they:

Skins for factions, the Kirin Tor, Gilneas, Stormwind, the Forsaken, the Orcish Horde of Draenor, the Highborn, the Scarlet Crusade, the Argent Crusade, Dalaran, or directly the Blood Elves of Silvermoon, affecting units, buildings or custom heroes such as Jaina’s Daughter of the Sea, Cataclysm’s Thrall, Arthas’ Fallen Prince or the Emerald Nightmare Cenarius, that is to say more implementations of these paid ones.

As well as banners, gestures, emoticons or new interfaces for the player as with Starcraft 1 and Starcraft 2.

How will this affect the community of players who have developed maps or modifications in the game that already implement these features?

Or will they be directly censored and removed for monetarily compromising the game system and being able to maliciously alter it online?

All these implementations of Custom Maps, Custom Campaigns, Custom Features such as:

Quenching Mod v2.2 Oldborn - Warcraft III Reforged Mod

Do they compromise and negatively affect and harm the system that will be implemented in patch 2.0 or will they be able to continue to exist and coexist together?

These are my doubts about it, because I really don’t know very well what is planned to be done in the game, I only know that Mac users can no longer access the game, and that the PTR cannot be accessed because it is currently exclusive to the developers, as well as that on November 13 there will be a Direct for the 30th Anniversary of Warcraft and things will be announced as shown in the promotional image that shows Thrall and Tyrande from the Warcraft 3 version riding their respective mounts from the Reforged game.

Thank you in advance for your attention.

Best regards.

I doubt Blizzard will answer questions about something that hasn’t been announced. Hopefully if they do announce something in the future it will be followed by some community interaction, which we haven’t had for a few years.

We don’t really know what’s actually going on yet. But suppose there is a major update to the game. If it’s actually an update and not like, warcraft 4 or something, then existing maps should still work fine.

But until something official comes along, you should temper your expectations about any sort of update happening.

No, maps will not be compatible and will no longer work after the update. All of you will be destroyed, along with your beloved Planet Earth. http://warsmash.net/#ramblings for more.

Yeah, version 2.0 will probably wipe your entire hard drive/ssd. It wouldn’t be the first time someone made a game that inadvertently did that

after that it will trigger the apocalypse

Whatever changes they make, I’d assume that any maps that work with Reforged would also work in an updated version.

I hope you’re right; I guess; I’m afraid that the Warcraft 3 Reforged 2.0 update will make maps, mods and campaigns before that version incompatible and all this is to sell campaigns made by Blizzard, and what they have been doing in patch B has been to re-adapt it to the Starcraft 2 engine, in order to include microtransactions. Since it was unplayable with the initial menu through Chrome, adding in that case a collection like in Starcraft. Because they have created one of the biggest and best custom campaign masterpieces out there, with unmatched passion and love. Blizzard lost the love in Warcraft 3 Reforged, but they gave it back like no other. While Blizzard did what they did for money, they can unfortunately do it for money again.

Wowhead posted the following news regarding Patch 2.0:
Warcraft... Relaunched? The Signs of Warcraft RTS News Coming Up on Warcraft Direct - Wowhead News

And this other video from “Back2Warcraft”: Warcraft3… Re-Launched?
https://youtu.be/kZ1f2xY7znE?si=0DbVCgly_RH09-_7

That’s why I’m afraid that what Blizzard will do with this update could conflict with community-developed maps and mods, making them incompatible.

Because Blizzard has already seen that people are interested in both custom campaigns and mods, such as those mentioned above, be they: Lord of the Clans HD, Warcraft 2 Tide of Darkness, Warcraft 3 Re-Reforged, whatever the campaign is, and that they seek to develop their own campaigns as happened with Age of Empires or Age of Mythology or Age of Empires 3 or whatever game, to capitalize on the opportunity monetarily.

I’m worried about what they might be like, since the problem is that they won’t be of the same quality as the community ones, and much less will they be free. From what I’ve seen, I feel more confident in the work of the community, which in my opinion is a thousand times superior and with much more passion than any work that Blizzard can do today, and with the few monetary resources and budgets that it is willing to allow its workers.

More and more, I feel that Blizzard and its executives are guided by the principle of minimum effort in their products and services. Leading them to charge a lot for them, as is currently the case with Rockstargames.

And my greatest fear is that if Blizzard cannot monetize the community maps, much less their campaigns, then they will conveniently lead them to stay out of the way and take away their profitability, censoring them or preventing them from being played.

Making and preferring that users look for BLizzard maps first at the price they decide to set. As if they were looking to have total control over the creations of fans and the community in the game itself.

They make me feel like they’re not looking to improve, but rather just to get more benefits and profitability, and if they can’t get them the right way, claiming that this is to offer greater transparency and security in their services for their users, they can do it the dirty way, at least by eliminating the competition so that it doesn’t get in the way of their lucrative objectives, and they don’t become an obstacle, even if that obstacle is doing a better job than Blizzard.

I guess I’m afraid, knowing and understanding the way they treated us in the past, that it’s hard for me to think that they’ll do things right again and improve and fix what they themselves caused.

I don’t know that much about the WC3 custom mapmaking scene. As I recall, the biggest issue was custom campaigns until that feature finally got restored. There were definitely maps that used new WC3R assets that couldn’t be used in the non-reforged game. With StarCraft Remastered, there were existing community maps that took advantage of a trigger bug to allow external assets into the game and SCR had security settings that prevented it. They later patched it to allow some of those kinds of maps but not all.

It will be a week before we (might) hear something at the Warcraft Direct stream. If you’ve been keeping up with the leaks, it sounds like there will be some kind of Warcraft II remake as well, whether separate or within WC3R. But, along with the addition of SC2 and SCR to Game Pass, it shows that the new ownership approves of putting a little investment into RTS. Blizzard leadership has changed twice since WC3R and I believe that they do want to clean up the biggest stain on the company’s history. Not that money isn’t part of it. WC3R always fit their game plan of “multiple points of entry” for their franchises and they never got around to introducing paid hero skins beyond the Spoils of War bundle. The renewed partnership with NetEase also means that the Chinese market will probably want to monetize maps within their region.

I’m honestly more interested in the official maps and campaigns myself but I’d expect old maps would still work, including those that use hero and creep assets introduced in Reforged. Custom maps have always been a huge selling point for Warcraft III to the extent that I couldn’t find any friends who wanted to just play melee matches with me back in the day.

We’ve already seen some differences caused by the Microsoft acquisition. Some good, some bad. I don’t know how that will got for WC3. But I’m at least confident that map compatibility isn’t in danger.

You would only be able to launch 2.0.0 patch after sending bitcoins to a special address, or else your computer will be blocked with a message from bobby kotick accusing you of watching pornography

They’re not stupid to do that, especially when he have a sizeable amount of HD custom maps and models

we barely know if the 2.0 will work at all
maybe the whole update they are preparing for us is just making the game unplayable on windows as well as macs

Let’s embark on the next chapter together. The adventure continues!

That part of “Warcraft III Reforged and more”, makes me to think that it refers a bit to Warcraft 2 Remastered, when it should be separate, like a Starcraft 1 Remastered, a separate game, but that they have put it together with Warcraft III Reforged, I say, because the development of Warcraft 2 Remastered was leaked, and I don’t think the part about" 20 years of World of Warcraft… Wow classic and modern… and a special announcement at the end" is referring to it. I think the one about Warcraft 3 could refer to an expansion instead of a Starcraft. 1.

I hope not, and Warcraft 2, separate from Warcraft 3, would seem to me to be the most coherent and least risky thing they should do, because otherwise I’m scared.
