google gives you that definition according to your previous searches, your habits, what you watch on tv and the calls on your mobile… that means that you are mostly late to appointments^^
It doesn’t apply to WC3 anyway, because for having a delayed development you must actually “have” a development^^
It also gave the other definition below it, and “retardation” specifically gave the same definition as he got. Besides I don’t give google appointments, wasn’t logged in and routinely clear history and cookies.
Anyway you really think they’ve stopped working on the missing features of this game? They did say it was taking “longer than intended” and released some kind of patch recently.
You don’t need to be logged in… it’s scarier that you can imagine^^
Anyway the released patch wasn’t even announced or published along with a changelog or anything. I guess that probably in some months we’ll have another post with what they are planning to do… if they even care…
The problem is that the momentum is totally gone. People moved to other games, even other Blizzard games and the next step is D2R now. So why waste time dragging the attention to a broken game?
The question is why they did not give us the “classic” yet.
It doesn’t base search results on history that isn’t there like in a clean browser. Even when you’re logged in you can pause or delete history on your account and disable personalized results. But using history to personalize word definitions from Oxford Languages would be especially strange.
That was already starting to be a problem last year. But even more so now. The reason would be to make up for their mistakes and restore some faith in them. But it’s probably too late to bring in a lot of new people who haven’t played the game. They’d be lucky to get the people they drove away back.
If they don’t do something soon they be lucky if they sell any D2R copies. it like the old saying goes “Fool me once Shame on you. Fool me Twice Shame on me” If they think they going to get any sort of good sell on D2R like they did with WC3R they might be wrong. If D2R ends up being total DOA I would be surprised if they reversed course and came back and re-released classic WC3 to save face. having 1 remaster be a total lost in under a year is bad. having 2 be the same in less than 2 is worse.
Unfortunately Blizzard still has more than enough rabid fanboys to ensure D2R will be a success.
They had too for WC3…
well, they have still, but not for reforged^^
I bought d2r preorder only to be allowed to post on the d2r forums. I asked people what led them to be so hyped in a world where it was predictable that this company would treat the game the same as reforged, and it was predictable that the social medium would cause Blizzard the same backlash against d2r as what they got against w3r regardless of the content they put in d2r.
My second thread on the topic was removed and I was suspended from the forum. They might not have employees fixing the stuff people want on Reforged, but it seems like they do have people willing to guide the social discourse away from Reforged by kicking out people like me over on the d2r forums.
This is why I posted my thread here even if we still have our amount of stupids^^
It’s just that I keep asking myself the same question.
Why don’t they return the classic? If you have time to sensitize the W3R, you have time to put a download link for the classic.
But it’s not being treated the same as Reforged. Not unless they make false promises on new content, remove core features, drastically change game balance and overwrite the original game, among other things. There is bound to be people who lost faith due to how badly they botched Reforged, which could limit how much it sells. But so long as they don’t botch it as bad (a very low bar), it shouldn’t get as bad a backlash.
There are version 1.27 client downloaders on Blizzard’s website. It’s just that Blizzard doesn’t show the links for them. Granted that should be something easy for them to do and same with offering later pre-reforged patches for download. But restoring classic battle.net on the other hand, that’d take some work and they might not like the idea of going backwards like that.
To be honest, I have replayed D1-D2-D3 last year and I didn’t really like last version of D2. It was way too easy. I prefer it a couple of versions before…
D1 is always D1
D3 had to ask someone to create a game and then leave otherwise you could just steamroll 99.9% of the game.
It’s something I have noticed in SC2 too, Legacy of the Void is a lot easier at normal difficulty compared to Wings of Liberty.
They should have a proper repository for their games with all the versions…
that is what I am getting at. I would wager they made nice promises to get WC3R preorders but than corporates or whoever cut the budget to save money. if they did not learn from Wc3r mistakes it is bound to happen again. That is my fear. its all about money. If they would just take the damn risk like they use too they likely have found reforge a complete success.
Note: Sorry for late reply, been away for awhile.
I suspect less people will pre-order D2R because of what happened with Reforged. But that doesn’t necessarily mean they won’t ever buy it. More people may just want to wait and see how it turns out. If the game actually turns out good, they’ll find out one way or another and may then buy it.
And if corporate wants to cut the budget due to (not) getting enough pre-orders and effectively doom D2R too, that would be stupid. They need to restore their reputation. But even if they do cut the budget there shouldn’t be repeats of some decisions they made with Reforged, like overwriting the original game or making as many unpopular changes (even if there are some).
The real problem is that these people are trying to convince you that there is “nothing wrong because it is just a graphical restyling” not realizing that the problems don’t rely on the graphic. We could have lived with reforged graphic or some modded version of it if only they didn’t break every other single aspect of the game.
“but succubi now has new footprints” (cit.)^^
TO be honest when a Mod like Warcraft 3 Rebirth looks and feels better than what we have, and it is a fan made mod, that is bad. It shows that for all intense and purposes Blizzard "corporate " was LAZY. That’s right blizzard I said LAZY!! They sent the model work to a “third party”. I would rather play Warcraft 3 Rebirth than Reforge in all honesty.
Isn’t rebirth like stapled together out of ports from other games, with inconsistent model normal shading styles? It really did not feel prettier or more coherent artistically than Reforged did to me, but also, I don’t care much, because the old 2002 Blizzard models for this game have a charm that I enjoy more than either Rebirth or Reforged or whatever else, because I like how moddable they are and how when I look at the simple graphics I can basically know instantly how to customize them. And that part of me is definitely nostalgia and not logic, but I’m just saying, the actual 3d art of reforged in many cases is really, really not what I’d complain about on Reforged…
I would suggest you look up Warcraft Rebirth cause what you described does not seem like the same thing

If they had planned and advertised from the start for it to just be an optional and maybe more faithful graphics upgrade, then that probably would have worked out fine or at least much better than what happened. But initially they had bigger ambitions, then changed their plans, had poor management and decision making, and probably budget and deadline issues. Of course this was reflected by all the new problems and downgrades in the game.
