Why Warcraft III reforged?!

The graphics look awesome in Reforged. And the campaign was and is awesome, but I have played it so many times already.

Why not simply call this title Warcraft 4, and create new campaigns??
I would totally buy it, and I am sure everyone else would too.

Because the custom map scene is still going strong in China, and outsourcing art for a remake is infinitely more profitable than doing a full new RTS.

No matter what, a new RTS faces a lot of new challenges today if they were yo make one. That is the biggest obstacle over a remake that has an established userbase and a well established popular story campaign that guarantees returning and new fans.

Ah I see.
Do you know if blizzard will make any new campaigns for reforged? Or will they leave it up to the community?
I think personally think that their main campaigns were so much better than community made campaigns…

Dude, Warcraft 3 reforged is in the same engine as Warcraft 3…

warcraft 3 reforged is not a remake, it is a remaster.

Why not make an entirely new game and take several more years? Hmm I wonder.

i wish they would make official custom campaigns for DLC like the fate of the Sons of Lothar in Outland, like how would they encounter the Draenei, the Night Elves, and the Blood Elves

you are right, they spent too much time. there is a good reason however. they outsourced the models to a company that might have spent too long. they fired 800 staff members too, reducing the amount of staff they have available. things takes time.

It costs much more, and rtss are not really going strong thanks to kids who likes battle royales only. So expensive and not worth. Also, you would lose years of learning the game from a pro perspective and years of modding/creating new maps and stuff. Just to get a completely new campaign? Nah.

Blizzard said 1000 time that their RTS is SC.
There will not be WC lV… and WC lll story continues in WoW.

The 800 fired staff was mostly marketting and customer service positions.

None of that should have affected development. They even hired more for that to get their internal projects going stronger.

yeah that would go over so well.

There already is a Warcraft 4, and we’ve already bought it. It’s called World of Warcraft.

no, that is not warcraft 4. it is a spin off, not a sequel.

World of warcraft is warcraft 4,and
Earthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is Warcrft 5

You say “potato”…

eh, no. that is not the same. a spin off is a game that follows characters without neccesarily continuing the story. a sequel continues the story.

Which is basically what WoW did for Warcraft III. The opening cinematic alone practically screams it. “Four years have passed since the mortal races banded together and stood united against the might of the Burning Legion”… Mount Hyjal. End of Warcraft III. Ergo, sequel.

WoW is too far along for another RTS to advance the Warcraft lore. People already complain about the out-of-game books - “we shouldn’t have to read books to get lore” - and not everyone who plays WoW played the earlier games; either they weren’t into RTS games, or didn’t know about them because WoW is so big, or whatever.

If there is to be a continuation of the story at all, it will be a World of Warcraft 2, not a Warcraft 4. Rail against that all you like, but unfortunately, that’s how it is. WoW is the continuation of the story, because that’s how Blizzard has made it.

no, it did not continue the story, it created a new story based on warcraft 3`s story. that is a spin off.

Ah that is extremely disappointing. DAM wow for being so popular and addictive! True story : a guy was so addicted to wow he left his twin sons in the bath while he played… they both drowned.
MMORPGs are a true curse and plague to this world I feel, especially with things like ‘instances’ where players are encouraged to ‘keep playing’. At least in single player games (which is what I really enjoy) allow you to play them at your own pace. Blizzard has destroyed so many lives and marriages because of their massively manipulating obsessive reality grabbing parasite.
Of course, it is not only blizzard… but all companies who strive so hard to keep you playing (and paying) for as long as physically possible. It’s just Blizzard who seems to have done this better than others…
